The two schools have never played on October 23rd. LAST FIVE GAMES IN SERIES First Meeting.FULL GAME LOG GAME PREVIEW & SERIES REVIEW John King and district wins. For 16 years now, John King has dominated the district landscape of whatever district his Lobos were in. The Lobos opened District 7-5A Division I play in similar fashion, for the 17th year now, as they rolled over the West Mesquite Wranglers, 49-24, at Lobo Stadium. Longview, winners of four straight, jumped out to a 49-10 lead before the Wranglers tacked on two late touchdowns. With the win, the Lobos improved to 1-0 in district play for the 15th time under head coach John King (2012 and 2017 being the exception with heavy losses at EH Hanby Stadium in Mesquite both years). Overall, John King improved to 91-6 in district contests as Longview's head coach dating back to 2004. King and the Lobos also stretched Longview's district winning streak to 19 games, dating back that 2017 loss at Mesquite Horn. The 19-game winning streak is the second longest in school history. Longview also extended it's home winning streak to 21 games, the longest official streak in school history. With West Mesquite behind them, the Lobos now turn their attention to their second straight game against a brand new opponent in school history...the Wylie East Raiders. Longview will face off against the Raiders in Wylie Stadium, the first time Longview will ever play a game in the city of Wylie. Longview's lone experience against a Wylie ISD program came against Wylie High in the 2015 5A Division I Regional round at AT&T Stadium. The Lobos rolled to a 35-14 victory in the contest. The Raiders, since setting a school record by reaching the third round of the post season back in 2016, have not been able to find any type of success. In the now four seasons since that 2016 season, the Raiders have posted just a total of 6 wins (2, 1, 2 and 1 this season). Where as the Lobos have not lost a district game in 19 contests, the Raiders come in on a 14-game losing streak in district play...having not won a district contest since a 2017 victory over Forney. While it looks to be a case of both teams heading into complete opposite directions, the Lobos will have to make sure they don't overlook the Raiders as a contest with Highland Park looms the next week for Longview. The Lobos will come into Wylie Stadium having won their last 9 road district games. kingwolf
I am really hoping that we use this game to start getting into some mid season form and develop the passing game a little more...I know I sound like a broken record but we got to get it done this week....
