Was it just me or was A&M supposed to play OU

So I thought A&m was supposed to play ou.. or was I mistaken?

You were mistaken. Bowl tie ins meant that the highest ranked SEC team not in the playoffs would go Orange while the next would go Cotton. A&M finished higher than Florida so they went to the Orange Bowl.

It would've been a better game than either this game or our game will be- both would be at full strength.

My question is my North Carolina and not a higher ranked team. Just leave me scratching my head.

Orange Bowl has to take the highest ranked ACC team not in the playoff I believe. That’s North Carolina.

Makes sense now.  Stinks but it makes sense. Ou and a&m in Texas would have been a Massive crowd and more viewership and a better game for sure.

My personal opinion is that is a game neither school really wanted anyways.

Crowd would have been the exact same size as it was —- COVID restrictions

Pretty much. I'm tired of playing in meh Texas bowl games (and the Cotton Bowl is a great game, but we've played at Jerry World too many times over the years) against former Big XII teams. The Orange Bowl will be an awesome change of scenery.

Does anyone know the last time A&M played in the Orange Bowl?

1944 Lsu won .  I believe Kirk and colms were in attendance that day.

Coach Hardin West was in the pressbox for the Aggies.

I still believe we hold the Orange Bowl record for most fumblerooskies ran in a row because of him.

1944 my grandfather was a Senior at A&M

It was during the War so both teams had a lot of 16 and 17 year olds playing. Really cool piece of history. I have a color film of the game.
