Aledo by 28+ is a smoking. I know for a fact Cedar Hill would smoke Carthage and Aledo played them tough. Mav, my SDC friend, I have knowledge of East Texas and DFW football as a whole. I am not as well versed on Houston area teams and play. I know great football when I see it. Since I am Carthage biased I am naturally more open to and open minded about small schools possibly being able to compete up classifications. The Bulldogs are an extremely rare breed and can adequately compete and win up several divisions. Do I want Carthage competing in 5A-D1 every Friday night, no, but could they occasionally, yes?! I have never, never said CHS can consistently win big in 5A-D1 and have not said they’d have won state in 5A-D2 as often as they have in 4A, but to act like they can’t is extremely ignorant in my opinion. I got donkey stomped on the other site saying I thought Carthage could, not would, beat Aledo, but I stand by that. VonG Posted January 15, 2021 Share Posted January 15, 2021 It was funny to me. Whether they would or not is a different conversation. I got to thinking about something. Every team Carthage played this year they had the better athletes. Every team Aledo played they didn't always have the best players. It's not hard to have a great defense against less competition.
