Bullard is in Region 2 in Class 4A where you play against the very good baseball program of PG for the regional title.  Good luck to Bullard this season, but I'll still put my money on PG to win Region 2 this season......just sayin'.   They have lots of starters returning on a team and program that just reloads each year.

In baseball, the schedule means so much more than the record......esp. early in the season when some teams are playing schools in tournaments above their classification.  Some schools don't play in tournaments because they are not invited......but have good won-loss records for the schedule they have played so far.  It all comes down to district play in baseball......you just cannot accurately gauge the quality on records alone until the play happens against teams within the same classification.  Pitching is a bigger deal than hitting, and quality defense(esp. the infield) is also an important factor that sometimes goes unnoticed(lower amt. of runs allowed/game).  Hitting usually improves as the season progresses for most teams.....but sometimes an underclassman pitcher emerges during the season that was previously an unknown talent.  Lots of variables in high school baseball with these young players developing their baseball skills.

And there is not a better replacement for playing lots of games early on in the season.......just to give all the players plenty of good minutes of playing time. Sometimes teams are playing lots of players in games early in the season to let the cream rise to determine the best players to start as the season progresses into district play and beyond. This is the development part that can change a team's won/loss record in midseason once the lineup becomes fully developed and fairly consistent by the coaching staff.

Naturally, a team with a known quality baseball program that has lots of returning starters has an advantage from the gitgo over teams that are not in the same situation.  But this does not mean that a high school level baseball team without those advantages cannot emerge as a very competitive team in any given year.  Baseball is a very individualistic sport even within the team concept, but a very good team can help itself with quality defense and at least two quality pitchers that throw lots of strikes.

Gonna have Bullard, Spring Hill, and Kilgore battling for the 16 4a district all three teams are pretty good.

So far.....

Bullard 7-5

Spring Hill 10-2

Kilgore 8-2

All three have played some good teams going to be interesting to see who beats who. Bullard and Kilgore will square off next week to get it started.

IMO this district is by far better than the PG, LE, NL, Paris & Pitt district.

PG should be 0-2 in district right now. They lucked out against Paris who just needed 1 out and couldn’t get it

They are just a couple plays away from being 0-3. Pitt had the game winning run on 3rd base in the bottom of the 7th with no outs against them. Was called out at the plate scoring on a passed ball. District 15 is a dog fight every Tuesday and Friday.
