UT Donors Supporting ‘Eyes of Texas’ Threaten to Pull Donations if School Caves to Cancel Culture

Recommended Posts

Some of those emails are embarrassing to say the least. All big universities have them - doesn't make it okay.

On the other hand, I don't see many players complaining about donors when they come off the practice field to find a couple hundred dollars or more tucked down in their shoe or stuffed in a pocket of their pants. And don't tell me this doesn't happen.

The university is going to put out their findings next week over the song and other things mentioned by the players last year.
I’m very excited to read what they found and add some truth to these racist claims. I listened to an interview with Quan Cosby Monday and he said what they found was very enlightening. He was one of several alumni’s on the committee along with current students, administrators, and faculty members.

The local TV station ran a story on this last night.  Though they showed both sides of the story it was still probably 60/40 to 70/30 slanted toward the ones that wanted it removed.  To the casual observer, who fails to do critical thinking or any thinking at all, I can see how the opinion is formed to have it removed.

As an alum I receive calls throughout the year from current students asking me for donations to the school above what I already give.  I am going to start my own poll on what they think of the song as that will be my leading comment after they ask me for more money.

Uh yeah, Sark better control this issue in the coming season.

Seems like he's started well, but Austin gonna Austin...

Easy fix, stand as a team for the song or leave as a team for the song.  If you stand as a team, they don't have to throw the hook 'em.  Also, this song's lyrics have nothing to do with racism.  The origination of the music and original lyrics (which have nothing to do with Texas) is where the racism started.  Tracing back to the beginning of America, there has been racism after the first groups of settlers.  You pick anything and dig far enough and you can probably find some roots in racism or slave culture.  We need to recognize that more than 80% of America has moved past this slave mentality.

I really don’t think it’s the coach’s place to handle this.  He can advise them on who to listen to, but I think the powers that be in the university should be handling these issues.  I think the president, dean, regents, whoever need to step in and say that when you are on our dime you will do as we say.  Stand for the eyes, etc....  when you’re on your own time and all obligations to the university have been fulfilled that week you can go do whatever as long as it doesn’t break your coach’s team policy.

Sorry Mav, it's not that easy.

If you stand for the song, obviously you're racist and you get canceled by the woke crowd.

If you don't stand for the song, you're a libtard and you get canceled by the rich dudes who pay the bills.

No one has moved past anything. It's all outrage porn, all the time.

They better be more concerned about pleasing the rich dudes who pay the bills rather than the libnut woketard whores who have no power whatsoever........

At a normal university, yes, but at UT the coach is the "face" of the program.

Sark better fix it, or he's gonna get canceled.

We have a serious victim mentality as a culture. Everybody wants to be the victim.
