White children suffer when ‘kids of color’ are taught they ‘belong,’ says Connecticut Republican

I think she meant the way they are going about it now with Critical Race theory in that hey are portraying all whites as oppressors to blacks and there is systematic racism.  She should have caught her comment immediately when she said it, but didn't.

Here's my thing Dave. Systemic racism has shaped african american lives. I don't want to get anyone started on a tangent so I will say PAST systemic racism. Yes whites will be viewed as oppressors because they were. Someone brought up a good point to me. One of the reasons people don't want true history told about this country is because some of these kids will see their grandparents on some of these old video footage.

The following is not directed towards you at all, just in general. On another note, this whole CRT debate overall is just a smoke screen. Zero schools are teaching this. This is a college ELECTIVE course that talks about systemic racism and how it's shaped legislation. Reading children books with black kids is not CRT. That's why i ask people do they know what it is all the time. CRT will never be in grade schools. I think it shows people's ignorance to believe what they hear without researching.

I don't disagree with your statement but  when does it stop? Martin Luthers dream did not say get pay back.

Simple fact is we need to move forward. CRT will only bring division

In Texas, you are correct, but have you taught in other states, do you know the curriculum of other states? Do you know what they teaching?

I taught in Colorado for 3 years--I can tell you that when we were there, they were NOT big on teaching math--but they were huge on reading. Which when we moved back, helped our daughters catch up in the classroom. Because they could read and understand the questions, because that is what most of our tests are based on. But they were both more than a year behind in math when we returned.

So while you know what is going on in Texas, don't pretend to know what is going on in other states. Because there is proof in other states, that people ARE teaching CRT.

Do you have any proof on hand and yes I'm asking because I'm too lazy to research.

I have read articles and have talked to relatives that teach in other states. But I will allow you to do your own research--I'd look at what is being taught in Virginia--Ohio--California--by teachers of all grade levels.

Didn't we just have an article about a guy in California that said he had just a year to "scare" kids into socialism.

And Fairfax, Virginia--they are in the news nightly--are parents just making this stuff up? While I know that this stuff is NOT in Texas' Curriculum, I know teachers that teach off the wall stuff like that--and I am in a relatively mid-size district--and I know it comes from the top down.

I'm talking about history not you. So you are advocating that actual American history shouldn't be taught?

You are 100% correct in this.  But the problem with politics, is that if said the wrong way, a quote can be misconstrued into something like this and lose an election because of it.

Only when the "media" have whored themselves to one party instead of doing the JOB that the Founding Fathers envisioned for a free press......

No, teach away. Was there slavery in America? Yes , there was and every other country in the world. Did slavery end in America? Yes it did. Where there white people who thought they were better than African Americans. Yes they were and probably some idiots that still do. Where there people that got jobs and other stuff handed to them? Yes they were.  Rich people's kids and still will be. Was I one of them? No I wasn't. I was raised on government cheese and apple sauce. Vowed I would have a better life and went into the world and worked my off to get where I am today.

1. Look up black wallstreet. Very affluent community in outside of Tulsa, OK. Let's just say the whites were not too happy about that and killed men, women and children and destroyed the whole community.

2. Affluent black communities were decimated and turned into lakes and forgotten in history.

3. Tuskegee Experiment

4. Redlining which still has effects till this day and was a major cause of the "ghettos" today.

5. Trail of Tears

6. You mentioned slavery already, but the prison system that came out of it was way worse

7. speaking of prison, there's a huge disparity between the sentencing of blacks and whites with similar backgrounds.

8. we can't forget Jim Crow either

willing to elaborate on any of these targets.

smh. Guess you didn't read my post all the way through. I knew you were going to say this but I covered my basis with that. Then again, you're against Arabic numerals being taught in schools just because their Arabic so you're definitely closed minded.

Nothing to elaborate on, it all happened, so did the imprisonment of Asian-Americans during World War Two, the mistreatment of the Chinese during the old West building railroads, the treatment of Native Americans, it all happened.

I think you're slow. I specifically said past systemic racism for your special benefit. CRT is not a grade school course. Never was and never will be. I stated what it actually was in a previous post.

Oh definitely but that's not helping your case and that was NOWHERE near the discrimination towards blacks. Heck in New York during thr race riots, the Irish were killing as many blacks as they possibly could. So no matter how much they got discriminated against, they still found time to discriminate against us.

Point being is NONE of THOSE groups continue harping on a past that no longer exists.........they grew up and got over it when times changed things........
