shoelessjoelives
With Torii Hunter taking the Gold Glove this season, it painfully reminds me of 1999. Hunter played in less than 100 games in the outfield and still walked away ( he should have run and run quick) with the award. In 1999, Rafael Palmeiro pulled off the same award heist. He played in 28 games at firstbase and also won the Gold Glove. I say that there has to be a qualification figure that you have to meet, just like the batting title has (3.1 AB's per team game or 162 X 3.1 or 502 plate appearances to qualify).....!!! Let's make sure these awards mean something and take away this token gesture type of winning that goes on !! Didn't Hurricane Bob Hazle really win the batting title in 1957 when he hit .403.................or did we all just miss that !! He had 157 plate appearances, and that should be enough, right ?? ramsn03
The Gold Glove is the least objective award given, they are suppossed to look at the fielding at each particular position, but it appears that they also look at average, and other hitting stats. They have no set standards on who qualifies, which shoelessjoelives, stated.

sfalumberjack02
....or how about Hank Blaylock not getting one either? I know that i am biased, but he had a very solid defensive year.
BigPapaBear
But so did Chavez.
ramsn03
I was very surprised that the great A-Fraud didn't get it, you know how great he is. Chavez is a good choice, and I'm a huge Blalock fan. Hank has improved his defense a lot, he should win it sometimes soon.
