cheaptrick77
APRIL 14, 1925 Two future Hall of Famers make their Major League debuts for the Philadelphia Athletics in the same game. Lefty Grove starts against the Boston Red Sox and leaves in the 4th inning after walking four and striking out none. In the 8th inning, Mickey Cochrane pinch-hits for catcher Cy Perkins, singles and stays in behind the plate while the Athletics go on to score nine runs in the last four innings to win, 9-8, in 10 innings. APRIL 14, 1967 Boston Red Sox lefty Billy Rohr comes within one out of completing a no-hitter in his Major League debut. Yankees catcher Elston Howard's 3-2 count single to right-center field with two out in the bottom of the 9th inning spoils Rohr's masterpiece -- settling for a 3-0 complete-game victory. Rohr would win only two more games in his Major League career. APRIL 14, 1967 Austin Braves pitcher James Britton no-hits the Arkansas Travelers in a Texas League contest, 3-0. APRIL 14, 1978 Making his professional debut, Orlando Twins pitcher Darrell Jackson holds the Jacksonville Suns hitless for nine innings.
