Yeah, because nuclear winter is something else all those crazy scientist just made up to support their political views.:ugh:

If we allow Iran to get nukes, or are forced to use nukes on a middle eastern country, western civilization is going to change pretty dramatically, and its not going to be in a way anyone likes.

I will agree with you there.

Militarily, Iran's not near the problem that North Korea and China are. Iran's problem would be Iraq-style insurgency. That said, Iran could be neutralized with pre-emptive strikes. North Korea and China would be very difficult to defeat, and would most certainly take nuclear weapons to suppress.

Any way you look at it, there's going to be collateral damage to our allies. In the Middle East, any attack on an Arab nation comprimises Israel's position. In Asia, Japan and South Korea are what would prevent us from using nuclear weapons, because using them against North Korea and China would be writing their death sentences. We could use Japan and South Korea to launch invasions into enemy territory.

China isn't going to war with us anytime soon. We and our allies are their major trading partners and they rely on us heavily for their economic success.

I would expect that if say North Korea tried to invade South Korea, China would obstain from action to try to play both sides. Any action on their part in favor of North Korea would surely net a trade ban on all Chinese imports in America and Japan which would cripple their economy.

How would you handle these threats?

We have alot of options right now. But most of the reasonable ones involve the aid of lots of European nations. Iran currently has a weak infrastructure, and although im not saying economic sanctions would help much(they typically hurt citizens much more than islamofacist regimes). An ex-general made a good statement the other day. We need to use the youth of Iran who are sick of their regime, using internet, and any other means possible to encourage the mobilization of an internal revolution.

So you want to rely on European nations....

Like France & Germany?

That worked so well in Iraq!!:whome:

Actually Germany is under new leadership, the Chancellor is a Christian Democrat. Under her leadership, she will establish Germany as they most powerful nation on that continent. We are also close allies with Poland, a very conservative nation. And we are wanting to build up ties with Ukraine, who has an excellent leader. France and Germany under Gerhard Schroeder should not be the face of Europe. France is backwards in many ways, just look at all the riots that they have been having. Europe is going to start having to take some roles in the world, because we cannot do it ourselves. We don't have the money or the manpower. Poland and Ukraine both sent troops to Iraq. Your going to see different things happening.
