A few notes:

* Hallsville has six players on this year's team. Kilgore and Marshall each have five. There are four Nac players on the team. Henderson and Jacksonville each had three players on the squad, and Whitehouse and Pine Tree each had two.

* It's the second year in a row that Kilgore and Marshall players won the MVP honors, but this year it's reversed; last year, Marshall running back Jackie Robinson was the preseason offensive MVP and Kilgore DE Eddie Jones was the defensive MVP (both were unanimous).

* Kilgore running back Jerek Sheffield was the district's leading rusher last year -- 1,850 yards and 14 scores.

* Jacksonville running back Carmen Boyd Anderson had 18 scores and 852 yards in 2005.

* Whitehouse's Luke Shivers had 1,530 yards and 12 scores on 202 carries.

* Hallsville's Kendrick Survia had 139 carries for 920 yards and 7 TDs.

* Hallsville quarterback Shane Fry completed 100 of 171 passes in 2005 for 1,264 yards, 7 INT and 11 touchdowns. He has 11 career starts.

* Nac's Justin McAnich completed 80 of 162 passes for 1,197 yards, 7 INT and 10 TDs.

* Linebackers Hunter Franklin (Whitehouse) and Brian Inglehart (Jacksonville) each totaled over 100 tackles in 2005. Scott Tillison had 50 tackles as a defensive tackle for the Henderson Lions. Rick Thomas (of Kilgore) and James Erwin (Nac) shared the newcomer of the year award last year and both return this season.

* Jaron Shepherd had 57 tackles, four interceptions and eight pass-breakups for the Kilgore Bulldogs and is back for his senior season this year. Shepherd's dad is Ronald Shepherd, the former Major League Baseball player.

* Kilgore's Deaundray Rossum (at wideout and defensive back) and Hallsville's Shane Fry (at QB and punter) were double selections to this year's team.

* This is the first time a projected coach of the year has been named (Nac's Bill Harper).
