bonebacker
This might be of some interest to those who are thinking about requesting, or have already started, a 13 month salary schedule from their new district: GET IT IN WRITING!! Without a doubt, getting that first check in August helps offset the costs of relocating or, if you're new to the profession, getting through that first month. But, NOT getting an August check a year later, because of a "mistake" made by the payroll department at administration, will cause more damage than ever thought possible!! (Disconnection of utilities, eviction/foreclosure, vehicle repossession...just to name a few!) So IMHO, for what it's worth, try to get any salary agreement in writing, as well as, check your statements/deductions every month from the very beginning to make absolutely certain everything's accounted and correct. Good Luck! And, God Bless!!
blesseddaily
Great advice! I didn't even think about it till I read your post...luckily mine was already in writing. That extra check in August was a life saver!!!
PurpleFreddy
We have a form that we complete when starting our district that gives you that option.
