e_t_sports
Coach Stephen Burrow and his staff in Crockett are to be congratulated. They came into this season predicted to be 3rd in the district, and after Moye started playing for Diboll, most folks moved Crockett down to 4th behind Carthage, Rusk and Diboll. At this point Crockett is 3-0 and unscored on in the district, and is the first team to clinch a playoff spot. Last year Crockett was picked 4th in the District behind Palestine, Rusk and Diboll, and Crockett went 5-0 to win it. But even more important than winning, Coach Burrow is doing it "the right way." He is teaching discipline, teamwork, respect and good sportsmanship. We are very fortunate to have him in Crockett. Crockett still has two very tough district games left against Diboll and Rusk. Among district teams, these are our two biggest rivals and either or both of them are very capable of beating us. But win, lose or draw, the Bulldogs will play hard and will play with class! (And we'll see you in the playoffs.)
blesseddaily
I totally agree..he and the staff have done a remarkable job. If I remember correctly there were a lot of the Bulldog followers that did not like the choice and were on here and other forums bad mouthing the new coach. Great job guys! e_t_sports
I don't think it was a case of people not liking the choice, but mainly some folks who were just trying to be loyal to the former coach. But at any rate, Coach Burrow has done an oustanding job. And another important note -- he's done it with some really young kids. If I'm remembering right, last year Crockett started 1 freshman and either 5 or 6 sophomores on defense.
