Woods leads by 1 stroke at Dunlop PhoenixSportsTicker

MIYAZAKI, Japan -- Tiger Woods birdied the final hole to eke out a one-stroke lead after the second round at the $1.7 million Dunlop Phoenix tournament Friday.

Woods carded an impressive 65 to post an 8-under-par 132 halfway total at Phoenix Country Club, with Padraig Harrington hot on his heels after a 66.

Ian Poulter continued his recent hot stretch with a 64 to move within two shots of the lead, while first-round leader Shingo Katayama managed only a 70 to fall three off the pace.

Woods, the two-time defending champion, started the round two shots off the pace, and a chip-in eagle at the par-5 fourth showed that he was going in only one direction, and it wasn't backward.

But with some world class competitors in his wake, he will have to play well over the final 36 holes to earn a three-peat.
