Golfingnut
White Oak......For two teams that came into the night with identical 0-2 District records, the game between the White Oak Roughnecks and the Gladewater Bears meant everything. For the winner a chance to get back into the 15AAA race and for the loser it meant a large mountain to climb. The Bears overcame a 5-0 Roughneck lead to score nine runs in the 5th and go on to beat White Oak 10-6 in a key District 15AAA matchup. Every Gladewater hitter scored in the inning, as the Bears sent thirteen batters to the plate. After singles by Hayden Gage and Dwight Johnson, Shane Flesher was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Gladewater. Patience by the Bears put Colt Barber, Cody Burks and Nick Clifton on base via the walk and scoring three Gladewater runs. James Thomas, who was 2 for 4 on the night with 3 RBI's then ripped a single to left centerfield to tie the game at 5-5. Josh Holley then lashed a single up the middle to score two more Bear runners. Gladewater added two more runs making the score 9-5. White Oak got the scoring started in the second when Mitchell Skeen singled to score Travis Koonce, who had gotten on bases with one of his two singles on the night, giving the Roughnecks a 1-0 lead. The Roughnecks added two more runs in the third as singles by Blake King and Jackson McCurdy puts White Oak in scoring position. After a sacrifice bunt by Blake Ware moved the runners to second and third, Cody Nolen lined a shot off the third bases bag to score both runners. White Oak then got a single and a walk to load the bases, but a great over the head catch by the Bear shortstop Flesher and a strikeout by pitcher Josh Holley retired the Roughneck threat. White Oak, who was cruising along behind the pitching of Craig Blankenship, who only allowed two hits and struckout five, got two more runs in the 4th as Blankenship helped his own cause by leading off with a double. King then reached base safely on a infield hit and both runners scored on Ware's single up the middle. Gladewater added a run in the sixth to finish off their scoring, as James Thomas, who had come on in relief of Josh Holley, struck out four and gave up only one hit in three innings of work, to shut down the Roughneck offense.
