DanielLions23
Just curious, I have a son who likes to run the distance races. What is a good time for seventh grade boys or girls in the 2400 and 1600?
HankTheCowDog
Let me check my records from when my son was in Jr,. High. He ran around 8:40 for the 2400 and 5:35 for the 1600 in 8th grade. He worst finish on the year was 4th. In seventh grade, the distances were 2000 and 1200. His times there averaged 7:45 and 4.25. He finished in the top five every week. I don't remember what kind of times the girls ran.
DanielLions23
Those are pretty impressive times. 8:40 would have won the boys 2400 last night. A boy from Whitehouse won the boys and a girl from Pine Tree won the girls 2400 in 9:21. They did not run the mile due to lightning. Thanks for your response. master
The last 6 years we have had boys run consistantly from 8:24 to 8:39 in the 2400 and from 5:15-5:35 in the 1600
Texashurdler
My 7th grade year i was running distance. I would consistantly run 8:55-9:10. And in the mile i was around 5:40. My 800m when i would run it was in the 2:30 range. I placed 3rd in just about every meet due to the fact that i had 2 team mates that were faster than I. The winner of these races (Tyler Burkett) would run 8:00 flat in the 2400(he was a 6' stud int he 7th grade) and he ran a 5:01 in the mile. He was an amazing athlete as a n7th grader...he never lost. then he moved off in the 8th grade and havent talked to him since sophomore year. But he is one of the best.Aiming between his times and mine are a very competitive set of times.
