davidm
In Friday's prelims, San Antonio Stevens sophomore phenom Rynell Parson posted a time of 10.34, aided by a breeze of 3.8 meters per second. The finals are Saturday afternoon. Parson, 16, made headlines when he ran a wind-aided, hand-timed 9.99 in early March, one of the fastest times ever recorded for a teenager. Last year as a freshman, he finished fourth at the Texas Relays with a time of 10.58, losing out to three runners who all returned this year. But Friday, Parson outdid all of them, posting the best overall time during his third heat. The Texas Relays high school boys 100-meter record is 10.18, set by Roy Martin of Dallas Roosevelt in 1985 For those who asked, Lufkin's Ralph Thomas not running because he missed prelims to play baseball
