I thought this was the High School Sports forum, isn't it?

I thought that track was a High School Sport, isn't it?

I also remember when Carter set the record, went on to star at SMU before making a pretty good pro in the NFL. I believe he competed in the Olympic Games also. The guy was a great athlete. More that appropriate to discuss in this forum.

It is the high school sports forum, but as the description says limit it to baseball, football and basketball only...that's why there is a track forum to discus track-related items.

Also the national record.

Wow! I've seen some baseball players that couldn't throw a baseball that far.:whome::whome:

Nobody has ever come within ten feet in 30 years and NEVER will. Something special happened at TJ in '79.

The name I am surprised is not on the list is Randy Matson who won a silver metal at the Olympics in 1964 after his senior year in high school. Was the first man to put the shot over 70'.
