LJLPOP10
Impressive. Just wondering, why are they playing TCU in the middle of the conference schedule?

Foreverfan
Haven't seen Mackey pitch since his high school days. His old pitching coach has been telling people he's a hoss. Enjoyed watching his older brother play ss on the Van team before playing college ball in Oregon. Gotta find out when Wade will be pitching again. That would be nice to see. Too bad little brother doesn't play baseball, but I hear he did great in football and track (or is it cross country?) this year. To be blessed with all that talent, they are all wonderful people, too.
Lhornfan
I watched most of the game last night on CSTV. Mackey had the Horned Frogs lost most of the night with his 2 seamer. At least that's what it looked like to me. He also has a windup that makes it hard to pick up the ball.
whodathoughtit
Mackey Tosses Gem as Bears Blank No. 23 TCU 3-0 Bears get first shutout since April 7, 2006. RHP Wade Mackey tossed Baylor's first complete-game shutout in one year and 24 days. May 1, 2007 FORT WORTH, Texas -- Wade Mackey tossed a complete-game shutout, and Baylor scored three second-inning runs on four two-out singles as the Bears defeated No. 23 TCU 3-0 in midweek action Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Baylor (26-21) posted its second consecutive win over a ranked opponent on the road for the first time since taking the last two games of a three-game series at then-No. 16 Long Beach State in February 2006. Tim Jackson led off the second with a single to right-center, but TCU (34-11) quickly recorded a pair of outs on a Shaver Hansen fly ball and a Paul Miles strikeout. However, the next four Baylor batters singled to give the Bears a 3-0 lead. Ben Booker started the four-batter stretch with a single to right, and Raynor Campbell followed with an RBI single through the left side. Chase Gerdes then drove an RBI single back up the middle, and Beamer Weems finished the three-run second with an RBI single down the right-field line. That was all the run support Mackey (3-1) needed as he allowed only two hits and a walk with five strikeouts for Baylor's first complete game since Ryan LaMotta's eight-inning complete-game loss at Texas A&M in last season's series opener. It was Baylor's first complete-game shutout since LaMotta's in Baylor's 14-0 victory against Oklahoma State in last season's series opener. Mackey, whose previous long outing was 5.0 innings on three occasions, escaped trouble in the second and third innings, getting an inning-ending double play in the second and stranding runners on the corners in the third. After a one-out walk and a hit by pitch in the third, Mackey retired 13 consecutive batters before Hunt Woodruff's bunt single with two outs in the seventh; that was TCU's final base runner of the night as Mackey struck out pinch hitter Matt McGuirk to end the inning before retiring the Horned Frogs in order in the eighth and ninth innings. Woodruff had both TCU's hits on the night, also getting a one-out single through left side in the second inning. Steven Trout reached twice via hit by pitch. The only other TCU base runner on the night was Bryan Kervin, who reached on an error in the second. Baylor tallied 12 hits on the night, all of which were singles. Campbell and Jackson both turned in three-hit nights; Campbell registered two bunt singles for the fourth time this season. Gerdes added two hits. blueduck
forty walk-ons competed for two spots. wade's potential is unlimited because now he only has to listen to one pitching coach and that is steve smith.
