Smoaky
Former Tyler High School football star Dick Hightower, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 77. Hightower was on a hunting trip in Ozona, Texas with his football buddies, when he passed away. No other details are known at this time. Hightower, was an all-state football player at Tyler High, a consensus All-American at SMU, and was drafted by the Washington Redskins. He was a big-strapping man, and I was fortunate enough to know him, and in fact went on a couple of hunting trips with him in the mid-90's. He was once Hightower Lumber, and another building company. His oldest son, Pat called me this morning with the news. He had another son, Rusty, and daughter, Wendy. Funeral arrangements are pending. RufusJones
Hate to here that. I have known the Hightowers for many years. Dick was the coach of our flag football team (Rice Mustangs). Prayers to the Hightower family.
cheaptrick77
I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Hightower, but I did work with his late son-in-law, who had him sign this 1951 Topps Magic Football Card for me: R.I.P.
