So. Baptists revive school exodus issue Allie Martin - OneNewsNow - 5/23/2008 9:00:00 AMbutton1-addthis.gifvar addthis_pub = 'onenewsnow';

homosexual.jpgA resolution has been submitted for the upcoming business meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention, which calls on parents to rescue their children from indoctrination in sexual deviancy in California's public schools.

The resolution was submitted by Dr. Voddie Baucham, Jr., and Bruce Shortt, two well-known critics of government-run schools -- or as Baucham calls them, "the pagan schools." (See related article) It points to recent legislation approved in California, known as SB 777, mandating that all students in public schools be taught that homosexuality is normal and should not be condemned. Also, earlier this year, a three-judge panel of the California Court of Appeals determined parents in that state have no legal right to home school.

The resolution proposed by Baucham and Shortt urges parents in California to withdraw their children from public schools, at least until all pro-homosexual legislation is repealed. Baucham says Christian parents in that state must act now.

VoddieBaucham.jpg"What do the California school administrators and California legislators have to do to children before people say enough is enough?" he asks. "Do they have to start eating children before we finally say we'll pull them out of those schools? Because so far they have done some of the most radical, unspeakable things as it relates to the training of these children, and parents still have not woken up. And what's worse, the church seems to be asleep on these issues," Baucham explains.

The resolution also encourages Southern Baptist churches to support the expansion of Christian schools, home schooling, home-school co-ops, and alternative models of providing Christian education. It also encourages all Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) agencies to inform and educate California parents, pastors, and Christian school employees about SB 777 and related legislation.

Baucham says this battle is tougher than ones fought in the past. "It was easy when it came to Disney several years ago, standing up and being tough, asking people to not go to Disney, where most people weren't going there on a regular basis anyway. [but] this is not as easy," he acknowledges. "This is not a paper tiger here; this is a real battle, and it is destroying the lives of real children -- and it requires a real response right now," Baucham contends.

Southern Baptists, according to the resolution, should pray for the deliverance of homosexuals from that lifestyle and pray for their salvation.

Based on trends in education, everything that starts in California lands in Texas within 10 years....you fellas might want to start boning up on your algebra since you'll all be homeschooling your kids before long.

Might want to re-think that one. The laws are passed in Austin and Austin aint called the San Fran of Texas for nothing.

True, but thank God our State reps come from all over the state.

I lived in Austin for four years, and I never heard it called the San Fran of Texas. I think we've got us another Longhorn hater on the boards.

While there are hippies and tree huggers in Austin, they don't represent the city or culture. And like Bleeds the Aggie said, state representatives are from all over the state.

The voting record of Travis county along with all of the hippies, tree huggers and "keep Austin wierd" folks make those of us who are not from there but only visit on occasion view Austin as the San Francisco of Texas.

While it is possible that I could be construed as a Longhorn hater (GIG 'EM AGGIES!), I've heard Austin described as the San Fran of the South for years, even decades. Not making this up Lhorn. Has nothing to do with the school. While I may be an Aggie (Bleeds the Aggie, kinda like that), I recognize the quality of the institution, having several family members who are either students there, or have graduated from there. We even let them come to family functions.

Sorry Lhorn. You might want to call some of your friends still in Austin and ask them. This moniker is by no means new or imagined.

BTW, Travis County was the only county in the state that voted to recognize gay marriage.

I love the Longhorns but Austin is as Liberal as it comes in Texas. And since my last visit to Austin i just have to ask...do hippies and tree huggers there have something against taking a bath or shower? Geez...

In addition to that there are too many ther that want to be the poster child for the "Keep Austin Weird" slogan.

Thank God our capital city itself is not responsible for passing the laws for the rest of the state to follow. While it may be the capital of the state it does not represent the views of the rest of the state.

I've been here 15 year, Lhornfan. There are few places that nurture San Fran values as much as Austin - hence my migration to Williamson county. But I still work here almost daily. Did you venture beyond the Forty Acres?

I would agree with Scot. There's plenty of areas that could qualify to be compared to San Fran.

Still, I have always enjoyed Austin every time I've gone over the years. It's one of my favorite cities in Texas.

No matter the political affiliations, there's still no greater city in Texas than Austin. No contest.

Have you ever been to Old Dime Box?

I spent many a days cliff jumping at Lake Travis. I did the 6th Street scene a little, but that gets old pretty quick when you live in Austin. I guess I just didn't pay much attention to all the liberal hippy folks. Like someone posted earlier, you really don't have to see them, you can smell them 1/4 mile away. I also owned about 20 or so different golf frisbees while living down there.

First of all, Austin is a wonderful city.

Now, back on topic. I don't understand why people are so afraid of their children being taught by gay teachers. So what if they are gay? As long as they don't harm students, I see no problem. This extreme homophobia is bordering on ridiculous.

I had a couple of teacher that were on the gay side and they never missed an opportunity to let everyone know that it is OK to be gay. That last teacher that I had that way was a college Speech Professor. Instead of learning professional communication skilled that the class was set up for he kept having us to do various skits that always involved at least one gay person. That is until a recovering Heroin addict in the class stood up and cussed him out for all he was worth for trying to cram homosexuality down our throats. Interesting class needless to say.

In anything in life we try to keep ourselves and our families out of situations that do not go along with our personal beliefs especially when it is a subject as Homosexuality that we all know is not natural. We teach our family what is right and wrong and resist anyone that tries to tell us any different. In the matter of homosexuality it is a subject that is being crammed down the people of America's throat that we are to accept this behavior that we know to be wrong and allow others to convince our children that it is ok to be that way. Well needless to say that is why we are talking about this subject is because it is one of very few that the majority of Americans do not want to accept and are going to resist it for as long as it takes.

Having a gay teacher that opportunizes their choice onto students is morally no different than having a criminal or drug dealer to teach the kids. They can all be equally as destructive to a family's belief system, hence why we try to keep them away from those people who believe differntly than we do.

I do not care about or want to hear anything about a person's mating or bedroom habits whether they be gay or straight. It is the demand to be recognized for this choice that drives everyone crazy more than anything. What if porn stars or pedifiles started demanding special recognition and priviledges because of their sexual choices. That is what this all really boils down to anyway, recognitions and priviledges because or sexual choice!!! Whether it tickles your fancy or not, there are things that goes on in the bedroom that simply are not right like it or not and to entitle a group of people and allow them to force their choice upon the rest of the world is not right either.

Teachers do not soley stick to subject matter and always share some of their beliefs as examples to the subject mater to get student sot understand it. They walk a fine line of superimposing their beliefs through examples in teaching. Most of the time unintentionally but we all know that if one person doesn't like what they here the teacher will be in for it something fierce. With this in mind we all want the schools to be extremely careful in who they hire so that they do not attempt to sway the minds of our children while in their classroom with anything other than the subject at hand. In california where Homosexualioty is so prevelantly accepted it is near normal for them. Face it they have tried to put at least one gay person or souple in nearly ever sitcom to get America to accept it. They are trying hard to cram it down our throuat if we want to watch T.V. anymore. Obviously at the school in question it is not ok and should be looked at as it is ok.

Call it homophobe if you want. To me that is a word that someone came up to categorize all those who would not just jump on the homosexual bandwagon and right it around the world like it is the best knew thing. It is just one of those lifes choices that when it all comes to an end is just wrong no matter how you rationalize it. An alcoholic loves his beer all the while it slowly causes more and more problems throughout their lifetime but when they die lonely and miserable with cirrhosis of the liver it is too late to take that decision back. THe olnly difference between them is that the Alcoholic did not ask for special priviledges and recognition because he knew he was doing something wrong. Nobody is perfect or makes the right decions all of the time nor should anyone be entitled because of their imperfections and choices. THis is deffinitely not something that needs to be paraded around in front of impressionable kids either.
