Here are a few numbers to illustrate the ridiculousness of Congress's continued restrictions on oil exploration.

 

Greenpeace membership (worldwide) - 2.8 million

Sierra Club membership - 730,000

U.S. Population - 304,000,000

 

It is very safe to say that the vast majority of the American people are in favor of expanded exploration and drilling, in favor of building new refineries and in favor of mining the vast oil shale reserves out west. The disparity of the above numbers indicate that Congress gives more credence and has more respect for the 1.16% of the population who would rather starve in the dark than harm a spotted three toed ruffled newt than it has for the 98.84% of us who want to drill wherever we can.

 

No wonder their approval rating is less than half that of the most hated President in history.
