The recruitment of John Wall, Rivals.com's No. 1 prospect in the class of 2009, is coming close to an end.

Wall, Rivals.com's No. 1 pospect in the 2009 class, is expected to announce his college decision early next week.Wall's travel team coach - Dwon Clifton of D-One Sports - will officially be named Director of Player Development at Baylor University on Friday, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

Wall is a 6-foot-4, 184-pound point guard out of Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God Christian Academy. He is expected to announce his college decision early next week according to Brian Clifton, the director of D-One Sports and Dwon Clifton's older brother.

Naturally, Wall is expected to follow his travel team coach to Baylor.

This development is somewhat surprising considering many news outlets erroneously reported last week - during the travel team tournaments in Las Vegas - that Dwon Clifton and Wall were destined for Oklahoma State.

Baylor apparently was not the only school pursuing Clifton as a coach. According to a source close to the situation, Dwon Clifton was offered coaching positions by other Big 12 schools as well as schools in the Big East and SEC.

Clifton played collegiate basketball at Clemson and then later at North Carolina-Greensboro before playing professionally in Portugal.

how is baylor a dirty program?that was a longtime ago and if you think they arent doing anything wrong in lubbock to get recruits out there your off your rocker. Baylor has twice the reason to go there and is not in the middle of no where. BU on the uprise in bball tech headed down the craper fast.

Bob Knight doesn't cheat and neither does his son, there was a time where that could work, but not since Kelvin Sampsons starting popping up in college basketball. How can Baylor after a major murder scandal and no program prestige get upper tier recruiting classes. Probably by paying players and hiring their entourage.

Or because of all the positive media attention, a promising young coach and a very positive future that looks like will have them in the top 25 this year and going back to the tournament.

How much do yall think he will make only year on campus? 100k?

Sorry but somethin sounds fishy here..

You will find that a lot of times big time recruits will go to a lesser known program because they will be able to be a star right off the bat and they need to show their talents as soon as they get into college so NBA scouts will see how good they are. For example - Michael Beasly

That is what I was about to say. If you watched any of the Baylor games last season either on television or in person, you saw one heck of an up and coming program. The women are established and the men are quickly gaining alot of momentum. No, I could actually see Baylor taking big strides this season and maybe even breaking into the Top 15 in the polls. Energetic coach + excellent positive exposure + great games in a great facility + Top Tier educational facility in the nation = top recruits taking notice.

I doubt very seriously there is anything "major" going on under the table there. Everybody cheats a little. Let's not put our heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't happen. It does.....just not very much at Baylor.

the reason Baylor is up and coming is because they have strung together a few top 20 classes. I can't wait for them to be exposed, Michael Beasley's entourage was hired at KSU too

Baylor has 1 McDonald's All American (tweety carter) and 1 other player who was ranked in the top 50 (LaceDarius Dunn) in high school. Jerrells, Dugat, & the other good players weren't highly recruited out of high school. I'm pretty sure Baylor wouldn't risk violating NCAA regulations again... It would mean a very harsh punishment for both the school and the coach.
