BSOTA
Being from Canadian and having seen first hand what they did to us I have to go with Stratford. Just like BigDog55 said Canadian was bigger and faster than Stratford and they just came out hit us in the mouth and beat us. Good Luck to both teams but I will take Stratford by 14+. Â Roll on District 1 the best district in 1A this year. Â Oh yeah I forgot to mention Canadian Wildcats BACK TO BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BeastoftheEast
Well, Maud played smash mouth football and did really well all year until Cayuga. I think any Maud fan will attest to that. It will be a good game both teams didnt get their by luck. I am taking cayuga by 7! I check the weather it is supposed to be pretty cold in Abilene Saturday so bring your thermals! Â Ready for the Cat Attack in Abilene!!! I am "GO CATS"!!!!!!

butchwax
I watch a lot of 4A and 5A games and I can attest to just how good Cayuga is......not just good for a 1A team, but good regardless of the number of A's.......having said that, I am also aware that Stratford is a very good team.......so I hope Cayuga does not take them lightly......I will pick Cayuga to win this one, but I think it will be a tough, hard-fought game with Cayuga on top by 7.....Cayuga 28 Stratford

wildcatfan08
7500+ yards 101 tds, hes good i dont care what size school he plays at, anyways dont you have some chickens to tend to? Â Â I don't think he said Traylons not good ,but someone comparing him to Adrian is a little ridiculuos.Adrian may well prove to be one of the best runningbacks to play in the N.F.L. .Traylon may well be a great runnigback one day but A.D. he is not! Â Â no i don't have chickens to tend to. I understand he's good. But alot of you guys are deeming him the greatest runningback in Texas since ADRIAN PETERSON. Basically saying that he will go D1 and take over college football, then be a top 10 draft pick and take the NFL by storm. I'm not saying an NFL quality player can't come out of a class a school, look at Leonard Davis. But I think y'all are taking AP a little lightly. Â Â Let me just put it in odds for you, there are 1,760 active players in the NFL. Around 224 draft picks in each draft. 32 starting running backs in the NFL, Adrian Peterson is without a doubt a top 5 runningback in the NFL. So, out of the entire United States of America, only God knows how many RB's that is, Adrian Peterson was not only the best in his draft class, he is in the top five in a range of about 10 draft classes. Â If your guy really is that good, then I am definately missing out, its not everyday you see a runningback who is better than 99.9% of all runningbacks in the United States. AHSJACKETS
GO CAYUGA!!!! Wishing you the best of luck from Alto! I remember three years ago saying that Cayuga would have some luck in the future...you proved me right! I love seeing schools have success...not just my school. For any school to make it to the playoffs...well, that is an accomplishment in itself. To make it to the State Championship game...that is a once in a lifetime experience!!! The memories made will be ones that are talked about the rest of your life. You know...Alto had a taste of going to state in 1995..we didn't win, but we got a taste of what it is like to make it that far. It took us 11 years to FINALLY get there again...every year, wanting it more and more. Now Cayuga...last year you got a taste of how special it is to be playing football in December...you've craved it all year, all the fans were confident in you, now you've made it to the ultimate...the State Championship Game!!!! District 20-A is so proud of you!!!! Win it all and a bring another state championship home to our district... Â You know when Alto played McCamey in 2006...they said that East Texas football didn't compare to West Texas football. Well, we showed them, and now you will too. The Beast from the East this year is Cayuga!
WestwoodPantherPride
Traylon Shead was named 1A Offensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press, just came out, check your local paper. congrats to Traylon and the driving force behind all those rushing yards, his O-Line. TheBreeze
This poll looks a little East Texas slanted too. Cayuga is having a dream year but I think it comes to an end. Oh yea, and have you seen him on defense, looks alittle scared. I watched A.D. play. he would try and punish you on both sides of the ball. your guy is good, but A.D. he is not. Â The only thing you're right about is that he's not A.D. because his name is TRAYLON SHEAD! And you know all of this from watching him play a few times?? So I guess we haven't played anybody, the Alto's, Tenaha's, Bremond's, and Maud's are nobody!! And I guess class a athletes are no good at all. Class a athletes can't compete with 3a and 4a right??? Nobody is taking anything away from the O-Line, QB, Receivers, or D-Line because this is a team and they have made it this far because they have all worked hard and wored together. blesseddaily
Guys, it's just the mind set of some folks that don't have a clue to the level of football played by the top tams in 1A now...the top 10 teams in 1A can play with most any 2A or 3A team and give them a run for their money...I took a lot of heat when we moved Jake to Maud because of their past and being 1A...I heard the same stupid remarks "He will never get looked at" or "The level of competition is so low the scouts will never come" blah, blah, blah...we had every big 12 team in here the last two years looking and they will still be looking after our big three are gone...why? because they realize that "programs" like ours, Cayuga, Alto Mart, and all the other top 1A's are producing kids that are ready to play at the next level...regardless of the size of the school...Treylon is the real deal...he will play big time college ball and there will be others from small schools that will play at that level...Good luck to Cayuga bring home the championship to East Tx.!!! Â Â Well said, Very well said Traylon is very good and like many have said he is only a junior and still has one year to develop. It must feel good to have a chance to come out of High School and hold the single season td record (which he only needs 3 more to tie) and to hold the High School career Td record, not to mention somewhere around third in yards. But Also AD has some more quality than Traylon because of his speed with a 4.3 time in the 40. and also blesseddaily you are exactly right with 1a athletes having the ability to play at the next year, just look at Colt Mccoy and Jordan Shipley, not sure if they were 1a or 2a but both have extemely good talent!!!!! cayugasportsdad
I don't usually come on this site, but since Stratford and Cayuga are playing, decided to check it out. I will pick Stratford to win this one in a close game.  Stratford will do things the old fashion way, smashmouth style football.  But what really makes Stratford so good for the last 15....20 years..............is there disipline. They are the most disiplined team i have ever seen.  In almost every football game they play, the other team is faster than they are, and usually bigger than they are, but they find a way to win.  Good luck to both teams  Go ELKS bring another gold ball back to region I   Well sportsfans, once again Cayuga is counted out before the game. How many times have we heard this during the playoffs? No one is here by accident. Both teams have proven something to theirselves and everyone around in their respective regions.  And just like every other game that we have played in the playoffs, we will have to prove ourselves again.  I love and respect smash mouth football. I love disciplined teams. I think that Cayuga has proven that they can play smash mouth. They have proven that they are disciplined. Once again, this game will be decided by mistakes and turnovers. Against Ganado, Cayuga had 4 takeaways and no giveaways. Against Maud, 4 takeaways and 2 turnovers. Against Bremond 4 takeaways and 1 turnover. If Cayuga continues with this pattern, then they will win. No team can survive giving Cayuga the ball that many times.  So with that said, Cayuga takes the biggest game they have ever played in.  Oh, and the reason that Stratford wanted to play in Abilene is because they won State Championships there in 2001 (I think), and 2005. Sorry to break the streak.  GO CAYUGA!! :bounce:
