UC Irvine swept a road series at Big West foe UC Riverside to move up to the No. 1 spot in the Baseball America Top 25 rankings for the first time in program history.

The Anteaters improved to 11-1 in Big West play and haven't lost a weekend series all season. They are the sixth different team to hold the top spot this season. After Irvine, the two biggest movers at the top of the rankings were Texas and Georgia Tech, both of whom posted 5-0 weeks. The Longhorns swept rival Oklahoma to jump up four spots to No. 5, while the Yellow Jackets won a midweek game over in-state rival Georgia and swept a series at Wake Forest over the weekend to move up five spots to No. 7.

There was plenty of movement throughout the rankings. Mississippi vaulted six spots in the rankings to No. 11 thanks to a series win on the road against Florida. Cal Poly and Virginia each jumped four places to Nos. 14 and 15, respectively. The Mustangs swept UC Davis while the Cavaliers won a series on the road against Boston College.

The bottom of the rankings saw plenty of turnover as five teams returned to the rankings. Hawaii jumped in at No. 20 after taking three of four against Sacramento State, while Florida State, Alabama and Texas A&M each swept their conference series to move back into the rankings.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of April 19 and do not include ties.

It's one of them. Why...do you have a problem with this poll?

Well to be honest I never wholeheartedly agree with any of them, but I use Rivals and USA Today. Baseball America uses a mixture of the potential draft prospects mixed with the results on the field, and I don't really like it. But as I said, there isn't really one I'm in love with. I was just curious if you picked the one that had the longhorns ranked the highest or if this was actually the poll you put the most stock in. Not that it really matters, it all gets settled on the field.

No, this is usually the one I look at first. There were actually 2 other polls that I saw that had UT ranked 1 spot higher, and 1 poll had UT at #1.

But you're right....none of them are really very good.
