100 Days and No Miracles Yet?

A Hundred Anxious Days: In a South Carolina town where the Downturn has deepened since the Inauguration, Obama supporters have struggled, going from 'Fired Up' to tired out.

She thought Obama would make a good president, so, she says, "this mouthy black lady knocked on doors in the whitest, most Republican neighborhoods in town and told them what was on my mind."

Now Obama is president, and she still believes he will help rescue Greenwood County. But her enthusiasm has faded into a wary optimism. "He's only one man, and there's a lot to get done," she says, a predicament she knows all too well.

"I never used to get tired, but I'm running out of energy," she says. "It's stressful. Maybe one problem gets fixed, but it's not fixed for long, and while you've been doing that, four other people have called asking for help."

I read this article today, and remembered the poor deluded woman claiming that Obama would pay her bills and fill her gas tank. Working in ministry I've been dealing with a steady stream of poor folks, many of them wondering when the "manna from heaven" is going to fall in their laps.

For some (the infirmed or the feeble) I am glad to connect them with benevolence resources and agencies, but there are a great many others (of sound mind and body) who are not willing to do whatever it takes to make a living. I remind them of II Thessalonians 3 and put them in contact with local managers I know who are hiring (dollar stores, fast-food, etc.), encouraging them that a lousy job is better than no job.

To no avail. Sometimes it is like talking to a wall, and there are so many that sincerely believe that they just need to hold out a bit longer. Like waiting for the Rapture or buying a lottery ticket, "denial" ain't just a river in Egypt.

May GOD have mercy.

I have to agree. Humanity was meant to work by the sweat of their brow. Some say it was a curse, I say it's a blessing. I don't work as hard as I used to, but I still like to work. I enjoy the work that I do, and some say it's not prestigious enough. I enjoy what I do for a living. It may not mean anything to some, but it pays for what I enjoy doing.

I enjoy the ravens that the Lord has sent me in my life. I know that it still boils down to me, and it takes me to live the life that God has given me. I have faith in God, but if I don't lift a finger to help myself why should He help me ?

Maybe in another forty years or so.

Is that how long you think Comrade Obama is gonna rule? Or how long it's gonna take for him to be overthrown??

Not in my lifetime. When his four years are up, they are up, should he be so lucky to be elected for a second term (which would extend his time in office to another 4 years), he'll serve it, fine. But after that I promise you he won't be staying in the White House.

Me thinks sideshow has a bee in his bonnet and has come on here not to give facts, but to give juvenile flames of traditional conservative thinking.

It is hard to see the facts when your mind is closed.

Then you should leave Texas.

The tide is coming! Even Texas will go back to the democrats before long.

The flame has been burning out of control for the last eight years. We just put it out...

Let's say that there was this person, no one in particular, was a left-wing nutjob and a slobbering moron who had found him/herself afloat in a conservative sea here in good old East Texas. And let's say that this unspecified person kept shooting off his/her mouth bragging about his/her Socialist leanings. The very thing that makes it possible for a person such as this to freely express his/her opinion even though he/she was a tiny minority is the Constitution of the United States. That's right, the very same document that allows such a person to spout ignorance constantly is being used by the Obama to wipe his royal rump and potty train his new royal puppy.

Such a person should just keep on blindly backing the Obama right up to the point that they are herded onto a train headed for re-education camp or mandatory national service. The rest of us will keep our eyes open and be ready to fight back.
