^ even though he had two follow-up songs that charted on Billboard's singles chart ??? :w00t:

Those of you who know how much I LOVE the term one hit wonder (almost as much as I do hair metal) :pinch: will be glad to hear that I will excuse myself from this thread before it gets ugly !!!

Follow-up "hits" from so-called "One Hit Wonders" :pinch:

STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK -- "Tomorrow"

GEORGIA SATELLITES -- "Hippy Hippy Shake"

NAZARETH -- "Love Hurts" was actually their biggest "hit"

TOMMY TUTONE -- "Angel Say No" (predates "Jenny" by two years)

LOOKING GLASS -- "Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne"

Bertie Higgins - Key Largo

Elbert Joseph "Bertie" Higgins (born December 8, 1944, Tarpon Springs, Florida) is an adult-contemporary singer and songwriter. In 1982, he had his only Top 40 album with Just Another Day in Paradise. It spawned the Top 10 romantic ballad "Key Largo", which referenced the Humphrey Bogart movie of the same name and reached #8 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2009, his song was #75 on VH1's Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80's.

"There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)"

"Love Zone"

^ the title track from his Just Another Day In Paradise LP was a follow-up hit :)

Key Largo was the only REAL Hit he ever had ..... Just Another Day in Paradise was, well, just another song that got some play. I guess if you want to be THAT nit-picking you could say any singer who recorded any other song doesn't qualify.

It boils down to what you consider a HIT. He probably hummed Mary Had A Little Lamb when he was a kid too. :w00t:

EXACTLY my point ... :)

The term is too ambiguous to flippantly label a band/artist a "one-hit wonder".

...and it is a derogatory label, in my opinion ... it presumes that the band/artist only recorded one good song.
