And so we took a stroll

Wound up down by the swimmin' hole

And she said, "Do what you want to do"

I got silly and I found a frog

In the water by a hollow log

And I shook it at her

And I said, "This frog's for you"

^ Here is another Stafford classic

So I made a bolder move

I went over and rang her bell

I heard growling from inside

And I got scared as hell

Then the bulldog staggered out the door

And he said, how do you do

But the lady bit me on the leg

And I said r-rouf, I love you too

----from Your Bulldog Drinks Champagne

Open up the window

Let some air into this room

I think I'm almost chokin'

From the smell of stale perfume

And that cigarette you're smoking

'Bout scared me half to death

Open up the window, sucker

Let me catch my breath

----written by: Randy Newman / Mama told me (not to come)[i like the Three Dog Night version best]

^Jim Stafford won't be recognized as a musical genius until long after he is dead ... :D

Lo-fi, but the song has always been a plaisir coupable:

I heat up

I cool down

I got words in my head so I say them

Don't let life get me down

Catch a hold of my blues and just play them

Don't know the reason Ive been here all season

With nothin' to show but this brand new tattoo

But its a real beauty, a mexican cutie

And how it got there...I haven't a clue

Wasting away in margaritaville, searching for my lost shaker of salt!

I blew out my flip-flop

stepped on a pop top

cut my heel, had to cruise on back home

but there's booze in the blender

and soon it will render

that frozen concoction that helps make hang on

I'm not a big Buffet fan, but that frozen concoction is a different story.

Livin on the road my friend, is gonna keep you free and clean

Now you wear your skin like iron

Your breath as hard as kerosene

You weren't your momma's only boy, but her favorite one it seems

She began to cry when you said goodbye

And sank into your dreams

Pancho was a bandit boy, his horse was fast as polished steel

He wore his gun outside his pants

For all the honest world to feel

The second great war, called him down from his horse

They asked, will you serve?

The answer of course

He rode the troop ship across the great ocean wide

He fought the Axis with one thought in mind

Get back to Catarina, get back to his life

Get back to the fence lines and that South Texas sky

what if you should decide,

that you don't want me there by your side.

that you don't want me there in your life.

.

.

.

every step that you take

could be your biggest mistake

it could bend or it could break

but that's the risk that you take

Simple girl you're cork and bobber fishing

With a cane pole and cold can beer

Simple girl you're a black top farm to market

With the windows down and you whispering in my ear

One last thing before I quit I never wanted any more than I could fit into my head I still remember every single word you said and all the #### that somehow came along with it still there's one thing that comforts me since I was always caged and now I'm free
