shoelessjoelives
The opening round of the British Open has a name outta the past at the top of the leader board. Tom Watson holds the first round lead early on with a 65. Watson has won 5 times at the British ('75, '77, '80, '82 and '83).

Eagleborn
Tiger got tamed.. It seemed like the weather was to good for a Open Championship... If and when the weather changes so will the leaders.

RETIREDFAN1
Watson sinks a LONG birdie putt on 18 to tie for the lead with Marino at -5....He shot a 70 on the day......Way to go, Tom....Meanwhile, Tiger double-bogied two straight holes and is struggling at +7 and tied for 107th.....he probably won't make the cut.....Vijay just eagled the 17th to go to -3....... RETIREDFAN1
Tiger finishes at +5 and must wait for the end today to see if that makes the cut....as of now, it won't......He was at even par at one time and next time I looked up he was +7.......he salvaged a little on the last few holes......I'm definitely going to jump on the Tom Watson bandwagon for the weekend..... ETBU89
Tiger missed the cut, according to the latest reports. Isn't that "old" man Watson awesome???? He has made it exciting to watch this Open. Tiger will be back. I just don't think he's found his rhythm yet.
RETIREDFAN1
Yep....I hope he doesn't fade like Greg Norman did last year......
ETBU89
Even if he does, it's been fun to watch him. There are so many on the leader board I like and would easily be happy if they won. This has been a good tournament.

RETIREDFAN1
Early on, Tom Watson now has the lead by himself....he's got off to a decent start after 2 holes....more to come as I get by a computer and TV.....
ETBU89
Watson is alone in 1st place with a -5. He is sinking those putts, the one area that has always been his downfall. Simply fun. He just teed off at the 8th. Looks like the closest ones are Fisher and Calcavecchia at -3. Goggin, Goosen, Jiminez, and Marino at -2.
ETBU89
Finishing the 10th hole, Watson is at -4. Fisher is alone at -3. At 2 under: Calcavecchia, Goggin, Goosen, Jiminez, Marino, and Westwood.
ETBU89
Finishing the 11th, Watson still at -4. Marina (29 years old, first Open) birdied to get to -3, along with Fisher. Jimenez, Goggin, Goosen, Calcavecchia, and Westwood at -2. Cink is alone at -1. I THINK Singh, Furyk, Kyboya, and Molder at Even.

ETBU89
Stewart Cink finishes at -1, as does Furyk. Lee Westwood at 2 under. Goggin's sprint was classic! I would have run, too, and I try not to ever have to run! LOL!!! Watson with the putt at 14th - WHEW!!!!!
ETBU89
How quickly fortune turns ~ with an eagle, Goosen goes to 2 under. The lead belongs to Goggin right now at 3 under. Ross Fisher just finished at -3. Goosen at -2. Watson BARELY missed making that eagle on the 17th, but ... WOW ... he's got the lead at -4.
