Mayfield is still trying to understand his suspension. NASCAR won't give any information about failed test.

I don't have a problem with the Mayfield suspension, I believe in safety first. The problem I have is that NASCAR won't give Mayfield any info on what the drug or drugs are, they (NASCAR) just said it was a postive test your under suspension PERIOD. Why won't give him in private the results, that way he could deal with it directly.

Now, lets clear the air I'm not a #41 Mayfield fan, I root for Jeff Gordon.

For more info: http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/headlines/...owes/index.html

Forty-seven races. Seventy-seven calendar weeks. Five hundred and forty days. Twelve thousand, nine hundred and sixty hours. All of it a seeming eternity since the last time Jeff Gordon slid out of a race car in Victory Lane after a points-paying event in NASCAR's premier series. The longest winless drought of the four-time champion's career has finally come to an end, and he has a bright white cowboy hat and a pair of Beretta six-shooters to prove it.

For more: http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/opinion/04...exas/index.html

After watching some of the racing Saturday night, it looks like this car is still every bit as much of a handful to drive as it ever was.

If NASCAR has 25 out of 36 parades this year like last year, they can kiss me as a fan good bye until they make changes to the rules/car that will allow more than 8-10 drivers to be competitive.

They could solve the problem by changing the 3400# requirement to 3800#. The added weight would slow the cars down, but give them the handling (downforce) they need to keep from sliding in the front and to hook up the rear tires when they get back in the gas.

We, along with Ford Racing, welcome Hall of Fame Racing and look forward to a very successful season."

Hall of Fame ended its technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of last season, then laid off most of its work force last month as sponsorship difficulties put its 2009 schedule in doubt.
As the 2008 calendar year neared its conclusion, Petty Enterprises and Gillett Evernham Motorsports inched ever closer to completing a merger that would mean a new home for NASCAR's iconic No. 43 car, and spell the end for a standalone Petty operation that's been a part of the sport since its founding 60 years ago.

Petty Enterprises is expected to lay off the majority of the 39 employees remaining at its shop in Mooresville, N.C.

Although neither GEM nor Petty officials said an announcement was forthcoming, sources indicated that the organizations were ironing out final details. The merger would entail GEM absorbing Petty's No. 43 car, which according to sources would be driven by Reed Sorenson and sponsored by the Air Force next season.

A.J. Allmendinger's late-season, five-race stint with Gillett Evernham Motorsports has earned him a full-time ride -- at the expense of Elliott Sadler.

Allmendinger's business manager, Tara Ragan, said Saturday night she expects Allmendinger to soon complete a deal to drive for GEM next season and replace Sadler in the No. 19 Dodge.

Sadler"Yes, we're in the final stages of negotiations with Gillett Evernham," Ragan said. "I think things will be sorted out within the next week. Nothing's done till it's done -- knock on wood -- but I think we're all eager to make that work, and I think it's safe to say we're in the fine details and the fine-tuning of that.

"I don't foresee any problems coming up, and I don't think they do, either. But is it signed, sealed and delivered? No, not quite, but hopefully it will be in the next few days."

Sadler signed a multiyear contract extension with the organization in May. The spotter, who helped guide Johnson to his second consecutive Sprint Cup championship in 2007, has already been contacted by other teams and is weighing his options.

"They wanted to give me plenty of time to find something before Homestead and not leave me hanging high and dry," said Reeves, who will spot the final two races of the season for Johnson as he attempts to win a record-tying third consecutive championship.

"Rick Hendrick knows how to treat people, and that's what makes him so successful. Jimmie Johnson is a class act, and the only thing I regret is that I won't be working with him next year, but I'm going to land on my feet OK."

Johnson has won 16 races with Reeves as his spotter the past two seasons, and Johnson leads the Chase by 106 points over Carl Edwards going into Sunday's race at Phoenix.

Why would you ever cut any part of a winning team especially the spotter?
Nascar pulls the trigger on Toyota

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR tried to even out the competition in the Nationwide Series on Wednesday by ordering all teams using Toyota motors to squeeze down their horsepower before this weekend's race in Indianapolis.

Toyota has won 14 of 21 races this season in the Nationwide Series, and all but one of them came in a Camry fielded by Joe Gibbs Racing. The exception was JGR driver Kyle Busch's victory at Charlotte in May in a car fielded by Braun Racing.

NASCAR ordered all the Toyota motors to use a smaller restrictor that will knock down 15 horsepower in the motors.

NASCAR recently sent 10 different motors for testing, and found that David Reutimann's Toyota was the best with an estimated 3 percent horsepower advantage over the competition. JGR's No. 18 car -- which Busch drove to victory at Chicago right before the motors were tested -- was second.

Roush Fenway Racing's Nos. 16 and 17 Fords were next, followed by JGR's No. 20 car, which has won nine races with four different drivers this season.

Will this help the domestics close the gap? Who knows.

http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headlines/...ment/index.html

Even in the cup series , how many times have you seen Kyle Busch drive past cars like they were sitting still.

Obviously toyota has done their homework here, but do you punish them for hard work or reward the others for nothing? UPDATE: Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway is reporting today that Teresa Earnhardt has enlisted the services of Bear, Stearns and Company [actally there is no more Bear Stearns as JP Morgan aquired them] to find a buyer -- or at least a major financial investor -- for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Bear Stearns is an investment bank, securities trading and brokerage firm based in New York City, and has been charged with finding a buyer for the entire operation. Barring that, Earnhardt is said to be interested in selling at least a minority interest in the team. DEI President of Global Operations Max Siegel declined to comment on the story when contacted earlier today.(Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway)(7-7-2008)
UPDATE: Max Siegel, President of Global Operations at DEI is currently in negotiations with major investors to buy Teresa Earnhardt out of DEI, a source close to the negotiations said Monday. It appears now that Teresa is finally willing to sell, and Siegel is working diligently with a number of potential investors to take the company over. Sources said Siegel would not just be buying a portion of DEI or a controlling interest, rather, he would be buying the entire company. Sources said, Teresa has agreed to walk away from the company entirely for the right price. That price is supposedly somewhere between $115-$130 million dollars. With one exception...Teresa would retain the rights to all "Dale Earnhardt' and 'Intimidator' rights and merchandise sales. Siegel would only be buying the DEI race teams, and real estate including all race shops and the DEI headquarters in Mooresville, NC. Sources said Siegel is very serious about the purchase and appears to have investors salivating over the opportunity to own the legendary team. In addition, Teresa has grown more frustrated with NASCAR nation following her fall-out with the sports most popular driver, and wants nothing more than to be out of the public eye for good.

Holy Cow! His father, Connie Kalitta, was a longtime driver and team owner known as "The Bounty Hunter," and his cousin, Doug Kalitta, also drives competitively.

I seen the video of the crash this morning, it was as bad of crash as I have ever seen.
Woman sues NASCAR for $225 million

Ex-official sues NASCAR over discriminationUpdated: June 10, 2008, 4:08 PM EST RSS blog email print CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - As an aspiring racing official, Mauricia Grant had grown used to working in a man's world.

When she finally made it into NASCAR, Grant was appalled at the way she says she was treated beginning from her first day on the job until her firing last October.
Now she's suing NASCAR for $225 million, alleging racial and sexual discrimination, sexual harassment and wrongful termination.

"I loved it. It was a great, exciting, adrenaline-filled job where I worked with fast cars and the best drivers in the world," Grant told The Associated Press. "But there was an ongoing daily pattern (of harassment). It was the nature of the people I worked with, the people who ran it, it trickled down from the top.

Mauricia Grant alleges that she was both racially and sexually discriminated against by NASCAR officials. (Courtesy of Morelli Ratner / Special to FOXSports.com)

"It's just the way things are in the garage."

The 32-year-old Grant, who is black, worked as a technical inspector responsible for certifying cars in NASCAR's second-tier Nationwide Series from January 2005 until her termination. In the lawsuit, she alleged she was referred to as "Nappy Headed Mo" and "Queen Sheba," by co-workers, was often told she worked on "colored people time," and was frightened by one official who routinely made references to the Ku Klux Klan.

In addition, Grant said she was subjected to sexual advances from male co-workers, two of whom allegedly exposed themselves to her, and graphic and lewd jokes.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, lists 23 specific incidents of alleged sexual harassment and 34 specific incidents of alleged racial and gender discrimination beginning when she was hired in January 2005 thru her October 2007 firing.

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said the organization had not yet reviewed the suit.

"As an equal opportunity employer, NASCAR is fully committed to the spirit and letter of affirmative action law," Poston said, adding NASCAR has a zero tolerance policy for harassment.

In the lawsuit, Grant said she complained numerous times to her supervisors about how she was treated, to no avail. On one occasion, Grant said Nationwide Series director Joe Balash, her immediate supervisor, was dismissive of her complaints, explaining her co-workers were "former military guys" with a rough sense of humor. "You just have to deal with it," she says Balash told her.

On another occasion, she alleged Balash participated in the harassment.

"Does your workout include an urban obstacle course with a flat-screen TV on your back?" she claimed Balash asked her during the week of July 28, 2007 while working in Indianapolis.

Grant told the AP her two younger sisters witnessed racial discrimination against the official while visiting her at Daytona International Speedway in 2006 and encouraged her to document every incident going forward.

Must-read:Kriegel: Lakers need to stop whining
O'Connor: Arnie vs. Jack part II?
Vote for your favorite Yankee moment
Must-see:Rosenthal: Do ChiSox need Lofton?
Video central: Lakers-Celtics finals
View more videos >>Top headlines:Big Brown trainer blames jockey
U.S. won't have Olympic hoops tryout
NASCAR facing $250M lawsuit
All of today's top stories >>Worth a thousand words:Griffey through the years

NBA Finals: Game 2 action
View more photos >>The lawsuit details a series of those alleged incidents:

- Grant was forced to work outside more often than the white male officials because her supervisors believed she couldn't sunburn because she was black.

- While riding in the backseat of her car pool at Talladega Superspeedway, co-workers told her to duck as they passed race fans. "I don't want to start a riot when these fans see a black woman in my car," she claims one official said.

- When packing up a dark garage at Texas Motor Speedway an official told Grant: "Keep smiling and pop your eyes out 'cause we can't see you."

- When she ignored advances from co-workers, Grant was accused of being gay. She also claimed co-workers questioned the sexual orientation of two other female officials.

After her termination, Grant said she went over her notes and recognized "a pattern of retaliation and discrimination."

"It didn't diminish my love for the sport of auto racing, but the job wasn't always the easiest thing to go to every day," she said.

Grant said she routinely complained to her supervisors. Two weeks after her final complaint, Grant said she was warned during the week of August 18, 2007 at Michigan International Speedway that she had engaged in "conduct unbecoming of a NASCAR representative" and would be fired unless she changed her behavior. She said the warning stemmed from a confrontation with a track official who stopped her as she passed through a gate to use the restroom.

Roughly two months later, Grant was fired, and NASCAR cited a poor work performance in ending her employment. The lawsuit claims other than a previous warning for using "street" language, Grant had never been disciplined for job performance and routinely received positive reviews.

In addition, the suit claims official Heather Gambino was fired in 2006 for complaining about a sexually hostile work environment. The suit also claims former official Dean Duckett, who is black, was reprimanded and ultimately fired last November for using "aggressive language toward a white co-worker."

Among those identified in Grant's suit are Balash, assistant series director Mike Dolan, supervisors Alan Shephard and Dennis Dillon, NASCAR's senior manager for business relations, the human resources director and 17 of Grant's fellow officials. All of the defendants are white.

"My supervisors all praised me. I was hanging in there with the guys," she said. "I am an athletic person. I went over the wall and faced malicious crews and competitive crew chiefs, and I was right there and held it down and was never lazy about it.

"And I knew that once I was terminated, there wasn't going to be an opportunity for me to find another industry like NASCAR to practice my craft."

I read an article years ago about Japan's contribution to Toyota's success in other types of racing.

What's the over/under line for the NASCAR racing teams ....

Is anyone else as tired of Kyle Busch? He is making it hard to enjoy NASCAR races this year. It is not because he is winning, although that can be irritating. It is because he is a real jerk. On Friday night, he gets bumped and he whines (after going to Wallace's car and getting in his face) that Steven Wallace is inexperienced. When Steven was asked about the incident, he just stated that it was racing, these things happen, no complaints about Kyle (even though he might have had a case because Kyle was really pushing and went where he probably shouldn't) Then when told what Kyle had said Steven said it right. He said Kyle is just a whiney girl. Amen. So Saturday when he wrecks Jr., that is just racing. Not his fault. Geez! I felt so bad for Jr, he had the car to beat at that point and Shrub was just being stupid and overdriving his car. Jr. handled it well, he just said that these things happen, but that Shrub needed some extra security. Bowyer even told the security guys that escorted him to the media center that he was ok, they should go protect Kyle, he was the one in trouble.

Ok, done with vent, Done with Shrub. Hope someone, anyone, takes him out next week at Darlington!

You can't really call TMS a speedway--that would insinuate that there was actually some racing going on in that joint. I joined a bunch of folks yesterday napping the afternoon away. I can't recall 3 competitive passes for the lead all day. There were some lead changes, but it was just the leader moving over so the faster car would not wreck him. NASCAR has got to do something.

Goodyear took the heat in Atlanta--and I agree that it's not their fault. The tires yesterday fell off the way they want them to, and they didn't have any failures to my knowledge. But the racing is terrible at these speedway tracks. They have got to give these guys some more downforce, weight, or restrict the carburettors to slow them down.
Petty Enterprise demise - it hurts to watch this

I grew up watching and cheering for the King, Richard Petty. So successful in driving. But the Petty Enterprises I'm watching now is just dismal.

The death of Adam Petty really nailed the coffin shut .... I think. Here's a few articles just recorded:
(1) KYLE PETTY STEPS OUT OF CAR for TMS race.
On Friday at Texas Motor Speedway, as reporters attempted to unravel exactly who decided to replace him with rookie Chad McCumbee this weekend. Petty made it clear the decision wasn't his and that he never wanted to come out of the car. Robbie Loomis, the vice president of competition at Petty Enterprises, said it was.

There's nothing I want to do more than drive a race car. Nothing in this freaking world that I want to do more than drive a race car. I want to drive a good race car. I want to drive a competitive race car.
--Kyle Petty

(2) FORT WORTH, Texas -- If Bobby Labonte is headed to Richard Childress Racing next season he's got everybody at Petty Enterprises fooled. Robbie Loomis, the vice president of competition at NASCAR's most storied organization, said on Wednesday he was confident that the 2000 Sprint Cup champion would finish his career with the Pettys.

(3) STP was the sponsor of the No. 43 car that Richard Petty drove to 200 victories. Now with General Mills moving on, the car needs a sponsor again.

I don't think that they have the money to generate a "front running" car. And that's a shame for the KING.
