Cushing has an 8th grade girl high jumping 4' 10"

She also has a 100 Hurdle time of 17.84 and 300s at 50.10. Would have broken 50 had she not hit the 3rd to last hurdle at Garrison.

Also 8th girls mile relay running 4:44. Hoping to break 4:40 by district.

pretty impressive. That height is worthy of state meet last year.

I was pleased when my 8th grade daughter cleared 4'3"

Yeah, as a coach I am more excited about the 300 hurdle time, but yes that height for a 1-A 8th grader is very good. I've got a very good group of 8th girls coming up next year...hoping to make several trips to Austin with them in both track and cross country.

That 50.1 in the 300s came down tonight to 49.08. She is just amazing...able to run faster every week really without anyone to push her.

Also had a couple of sub 6:30 miles and a 4:36 mile relay out of this group of 8th graders.

I have a buddy whose son is a 7th grader and he ran an 11.5 in the 100. He is also long jumping in the mid 17's with no work on technique yet. The kid is a special athlete.

Just wanted to give an update on the 7th grader I mentioned earlier. He set a new district record in the 100 Meters by running an 11.34! All I can say is WOW!

Don't know if he's mentioning the same kid, but a Sulphur Springs 7th grader ran an 11.30 last night at the 13-4A District Track Meet. Kid can flat out fly!!
He also jumped an impressive 17'11" in the long jump...not to mention being about a foot behind the board at that...

How will a sub 6:30 mile do for a 7th grade girl in the meets?
