My 3A bracket shows Argyle playing CCMiller, or Region 2 winner against Region 4 winner. Where did you get this matchup of Regional winners?

I believe the first game should be Waco La Vega vs. Lubbock Estacado @ 2:00 pm on Thurs. At least that's what the bracket shows.

They always seed the teams based on season record for the state tournament.

Ok, Argyle is 29-8, and Estacado is 27-7 for the season. Which record is better??? Can anyone say that 27-7 is truly better than 29-8?? And what about strength of schedule? This makes no sense, comparing unequal records, games played, and scheduling.

Heck, a draw or coin flip would make more sense and be a fairer, less confusing way to do it, JMO.

They seed the games based on record AND winning percentage...
1. La Vega 97.2%
2. Estacado 79.4%
3. Agyle 78.3%
4. Corpus Christie 76.3%

1 and 2 are split up and a coin is flipped to see who the 3 and 4 play. Make sense?

Greetings Regal!!! Good to see you back over here on Smoaky.com sir, as I was afraid that you may have become a Hill Country Bohemian and started to run around looking like Willie Nelson after too much conversing with those Wimberlites! How bout them Argyle Eagles goin back to state this time in round ball!?! Perhaps young ADK will weigh in on the upcoming fray here as well!

No Scotty, I've been holdin' down the fort over here on Smoaky for us, just to keep things warm and fuzzy for all the posters here. I'll be looking forward to some imput from you and perhaps a few more Argyllians in the coming days.

The percentage rule is the only consistent way to go. No subjective factors.
Makes it real easy. If a team schedules tough games in pre-district, it cam have the effect (if some are lost) of giving a lower seeding.
Still, if you want to be the best you gotta beat the rest. All it does is change the order.

I think Argyle has the ability to do so, based on the way they have been playing and coached up to now.
Impressive!

Well Regal, between these Eagles and their march to Austin and March Madness itself, it looks like I may suffer another month of lack of productivity similar to the football playoffs! I agree with futfan here, and I believe that they have an excellent chance to get it done this year with the cast of characters and coach in place, especially after having survived the recent onslaught in this region which was not unlike what the football team achieved in getting past the caliber of Carthage Gilmer and others!!! Would love to see them grab the ring this year, having fallen just short in 03-04 to Shallowater! Would be a wonderful tribute to Jared Newsom and company and his father Hal Newsom, who as you know were such integral parts of that team.

I remember it well, Scotty. My son was a freshman that year, we stayed in the same hotel as the team, had a very exciting time in Austin, and he got a real taste of high school playoffs to whet his whistle for the rest of his high school sports experience. Couldn't have been better, except for winning that game. Now, after many lost opportunities at the regional final, the Argyle boys basketball team has an opportunity to try for the trophy again, this time at the 3A level. The girls team did it several years ago when Matt was a Sr. I believe that was our first year in 3A. We won't be in Austin this time, but will be live-streaming it from FoxSports Southwest, I think it is. Estacado has won against teams of 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A like Argyle has from all over the state. They will be a tough out. They are very seasoned, and I think they may also be defending state champs from last year.

Nope, my mistake. They won the state tournament 2 years ago in 2010. Last year it was West Oso of the Corpus Christi area winning it all. I don't think Estacado has lost one game this year to a 3A school. All 7 losses were to 4A or 5A basketball powers. Let's see how our Eagles handle them.

Hoping Clarksville and Roxton go all the way, and it would be nice to see Idalou-White Oak possibly play in the final instead of the semifinal since they were the consensus Nos. 1 and 2 all season long. Other than this, they do it pretty well when it comes to seeding.

Couple of nice videos on this page showing March Madness highlights for the past couple of years to help set the stage for this year!

Good win for Mumford over Kerens in class 1A. They advance and go to 37-0 for the year. Next up on the live streaming of the games is Argyle(29-8) vs Lubbock Estacado(27-7). The Matadors will be an up-tempo, high scoring bunch. Look for #33 to lead the scoring for them, followed closely behind by #20, then #22, and # 12. I think they have about 7 players deep that can get it into double figures, depending on the minutes they play. Argyle will try to slow the tempo down, play ball control and defense, look for the quality shot, and play position basketball for rebounds. Argyle will have to limit the second chance shots for Estacado, and extend their own second chance opportunities to keep the score close. They also must knock down their 3's and force the Matadors out of position, not an easy task against this well-coached, basketball savvy group. This game will be worth tuning in for. Lots of drama and two differing styles here. Let's see who controls the tempo most.

Argyle-Estacado tips at 2 pm today on the live stream link given earlier in this thread if you care to watch the games. The following game is Waco LaVega vs. Corpus Christi Miller in the other 3A semifinal, the winners advancing to the final on Sat. Go Eagles!!!
