what is some of your best ways to get rid of crows around deer feeders? lots of pictures on game cam, mostly crows.

Are you using owl decoys? This can help. You should move them around every couple days.

If you are not worried about spooking deer, I would suggest an owl/crow fight recording, 12 guage and some steel shot. They are fun to shoot. Do this once a week and they will get the hint. Make sure it is legal in your area.

The first time I hunted crows using an owl/crow fight recording I couldn't even shoot for laughing so hard. There were crows coming from every position on the compass. It was hilarious and fun when we started shooting. You have to move pretty often because they get wise real quick.

my grandpa used to have gardens for as long as i can remember. all kinds of scarecrows over the years. he swore the method that worked best was killing the biggest crow he could find and hanging it in a big tree right beside the garden.

I have heard that from more than one old timer! Might be worth a shot!

My father used the dead crow hanging in a tree and it worked. kept them away from our pecan trees.

lighten up, Francis. I suppose you just have those feeders going to feed the wildlife then... rolleyes.gif

Speaking of hunting over things....I recently bought a 15 foot 2-man ladder stand at Academy for $99. The stand comes with two safety harnesses. Of course I thought of you first....lol. Seriously, though. How's your recovery coming?

I'm about as fully recovered as I'm going to get. Walking wise I'm basically back to normal. My right wrist/hand will always be handicapped, but it's really quite functional. Just can't do some of the things I could before such as throwing, swinging a bat, or lifting anything very heavy. It lets me know when I'm pushing the limit, believe me. All in all, I'm blessed, and I still praise God everyday for how it all worked out.

thanks for asking.

Bow hunting a possibility? I know you discussed it before but never heard if you got up enough strength fot a conventional bow. Crossbows a possibility for you? Some people seem to frown on them.

Yes, I can still shoot my 60# draw Matthews. I don't know how much bow hunting I'll do, but I should be able to. And no, I would never use a crossbow.
