How's everything shaping up in the district? I am out of the loop this year, just wondering how everyone is doing?

I hear PG is having a very good year and are the favorites for sure. Pittsburg is supposed to be playing well. LE is very tall and athletic as usual. Mt. Vernon is improving. I don't know anything about Atlanta or New Boston.
District starts Friday.

PG and Pittsburg are my favorites. L-E is capable of pulling a surprise, but the Lady Leopards are very inconsistent. New Boston is down, Atlanta has new coach and Mount Vernon doesn't have the talent PG and Pittsburg have, nor the athletes L-E has.

Pitt has a lot of talent and a good coach. The only thing that might get in their way of a play-off spot is basketball. They started practicing basketball during the athletic period. Tends to take the focus off of volleyball doesn't it?

PG is about 25-6 right now, I think. They have been playing strong. I think they will do VERY well this year.

just heard PG has played too many games in the pre-season and violated a UIL rule causing them to have to forfeit their last dist game. Looks like PG and PITT might tie for 1st. 2 matches left though. Anything can happen.

Neither team has clinched a playoff spot yet. Atlanta and L-E are both very much alive, especially with L-E getting forfeit from PG. L-E clinches playoff berth with win over Pittsburg. Atlanta can clinch tie for first place by winning out. PG can win by itself by winning out, even with forfeit. Pittsburg wins out they'd probably be first.

PG violates a rule and Pittsburg and Atlanta get punished for it by giving LE a win? This just seems wrong to me. Where is the punishment for PG?

Pitt had its chance to hand out punishment. The Pirates could have knocked PG out with win Tuesday, but they lost. Now PG is in the driver's seat to title.
The Pittsburg-L-E winner will likely advance with the loser out. I think the best three will advance. L-E got forfeit because that will be the illegal match for PG.

What I found interesting about the PG situation, they went ahead and played LE even though it was a forfeit. I thouht the rule was in place to regulate the number of games played in each sport. But PG has "played" one more game than they were by rule allowed.
Several years back the game situation happened to the Texas High basketball team. They also forfeited their last game of the season. The difference was they only played the number allowed by rule.
Anyone have insight on how the rule works?

The punishment is a forfeit, and having Atlanta tie with them for first instead of being outright champs.
