Astros fire Cecil Cooper today. I say that its been a year comeing. He never knew when to to pull a pitcher.

I liked Cecil Cooper as a player, but as a manager, you're right. I like the Astros, and I wonder who will be the replacement.

The Astros have been going in a bad direction for a number of years, maybe this will help turn them around.

I dont understand why that everybody thinks because someone was a great player they are automaticly a great manager. Not sayin that all greats arnt but. And I have a feeling that in the near future we could see Biggio as the manager of the Astros. Maybe not the next one but maybe the next.

I would love to see Biggio as the hitting coach even.

Agreed. Cooper's handling of pitchers was atrocious.

This team is old & has been living on borrowed time for 3 years. Astros let a golden opportunity slip this year by not
unloading before deadline. Tejada, Valverde, Carlos Lee should have been gone. Heck, I would have traded Oswalt and
Berkman if the price was good. It would have taken this team at least 3 years to right itself because of age. It's probably 4-5 years away now.

I would love to see biggio anywhere in the clubhouse for the astros. I say yes on all the ones listed to trad except Berkman, I know he has been a little injury prone here of late bt he is a good all around player. I see him haveing at least another 2 to 3 years in him. Oswalt is about to retire soon. I know he has said he didnt want to play over 10 years or so. Tejada I didnt like comeing to houston in the first place. All he seems to do is hit double plays to short or hes the hero theres no in between with him. My biggest fear is that they trade pence away. He has a bright bright future and the astros seem to alway either get guys to early in thier career or to late in thier and he is just comeing into his prime.

The 'Stros should make like the Rangers and rebuild around their farm system. Their roster is full of veterans but most of them are about one injury from being washed up. Pence is a great player to build a team around, that kid just oozes potential. We did see them get some prospects from the Rangers when they traded Pudge. Even though they weren't top prospects, they seem to want change gears and go that route.

Berkman is a great player. But I don't see the fire in him. He's been very upfront about not wanting to have a very long
career. I just don't think he'll be here 3 years from now and you could get so much for him. Don't misunderstand me on Lance......he's my favorite player.

IMO.....untouchable players are Bourne, Pence, Bud Norris. I've got a few others I'd want a lot for, but don't see anything I'd trade those 3 for.

Lord I miss the Stros not making a run. Lived in Houston for almost 4 years & I really got into them. I've tried, but I just can't warm up to the Rangers.

Anybody but the Cubs for me.

That actully would be a great Idea. Ausmus is smart and probobly knows the game as well as anyone. I can really see that working.

I don't either. I'm trying to think of a great player that went on to become a great manager. Torre wasn't bad as a player, and he's the closest thing that I can think of. I liked Phil Garner, but he had trouble at the start of his seasons. He would get on a run at the end of the season, but that's why he was terminated.

I can think of a lot of managers that have solid jobs in the majors. I doubt any of them can be lured to the Astros. Why does it seem like the Astros fire their managers, when there is no one solid to hire. I almost want to suggest Buckhalter, but he had a meltdown with the Rangers. Then again, Arlington usually eats up great managers.

Biggio and Bagwell as managers i am not sure it would ever happen...but most people in the baseball circle all say Ausmus would make a solid manager. Biggio and Bagwell would fill some seats but that's about it..plus i don't think Bagwell would do it..he is enjoying retirement too much

Don't see Bigg or Bags as managers. Ausmus probably needs some minor league experience first, but I'd still give him a shot. This team needs to
go young NOW and he's been touted for years for management.
