Looks like Collins is struggling. Maybe time to give VY a shot and just pound the football down teams throats.

They have millions of $$$s tied up in him. Might as well make him play instead of paying him to wear a visor, but don't limit him to being a statue. Let Vince be Vince and run the ball to set up the pass. Just work on his sliding technique. I believe the team will rally around him.

The guy doesn't seem to have QB smarts to play the position. He also does not pass real well. He needs to be converted to a rb or slot receiver. His skills are in his legs and not his arm and head.

Why would a coach put any player in just because of the money?

I remember a NC game in Pasedena where he completed 30 out of 40 passes spreading them out to 6-7 diffferent recievers. You are right, it is his legs where the skills are at and his passing is set up by his legs.

Would you rather pay him $60million to stand on the sidelines while a old man struggled in his position. I believe I'd try my luck with the young guy you drafted to be your franchise QB.

The Titans don't want to struggle more than they already are.

Leave Young on the bench, keep starting Collins.

Just because a team pays someone $60 million does not mean they are worth it. I'd rather have whom ever it takes to give me the best chance to win. And no I'm not saying he can't pass the ball. He has never proved he could do it efficiently with other parts of the game. I just don't think he can run a team. He does not show leadership qualities to me.

Yeah so I would leave the "old man" out there for a while longer. Draft or bring someone else in unless Vince matures enough to try again.

2007 : the Titans started 0-5. Enter VY and finish 8-8 (8-3 with VY starting).
2008 : Injury, a few bad games. Collins came in and did well, benefitted from a pretty good defense (similar to the Ravens' situation).
2009 : Titans start 0-3 with Collins.

I am not going to say starting VY will get the Titans to the playoffs. But i'd put money on it that if Collins is left in the Titans won't make the playoffs. Why not start VY?

You never know if a guy is going to make it unless you try him out. This is more than a sport, it is a business to the owners. If you got $60million tied up in someone you want to see if they'll produce. IF not you cut ties with him and reduce your losses by trading and trying to get something with value in return. You don't just want to stand there and eat $60million dollars and know nothing after the fact. If they had picked up VY as an undrafted FA like the Cowboys got Romo, then yeah let him ride the pine and learn a little more. VY was the 3rd pick overall for a reason.
Huck
Space, surely there's a struggling franchise in the NFL looking for a GM. With your superior knowledge and intellect of the game you should apply for a job. I can't tell you what a pleasure it is to get on SDC and read your mind blowing assesments of talent and play calling.

This buds for you " Mr GM on a message board".

jk

bot... Give VY another chance or cut him loose.

If a player is not ready YOU DON'T play him! $60.00 or $60,000,000.00!!! I know someone that has a Ferrari Testarossa. He also has among other cars a Bronco. You know what? He drives his Bronco most because that is what he is most comfortable in. No comparison in price here for him. Just comfort and knowing what he needs.

Your not going to be able to cut ties with Vince Young and expect any kind of return for him. Right now you just have to sit back and bite the bullet. And hope he can mature and get more polished. Just because he's sitting right now does not mean he is not progressing. If he has got what it takes he'll learn how to study and get better. Period!
GreezyChef
i say give the guy a shot. especially if they continue to lose and start off 0-4 or 1-5

Maybe Jeff Fisher is comfortable losing then?

8-3 as a rookie wasn't bad. So in other words you are saying is he needs to stand on the sideline and learn to be a stand in the pocket QB. He has the athleticism to step on the field and make a difference.

If Jeff Fisher is wanting his offense to be run by a "pocket QB" then that should be his decision. IF he does not want his QB scrambling around and making poor decisions that should still be his choice. Vince needs to conform to what his coaches want. Yes I do understand you want to build your offense around your QB and(or) strengths. I like a QB that can move around and make things happen. But we can't just discount better decision making on your QB just so we can play a high dollar player.

So you now know what kind of decisions a QB will make in the future? I wish I did, I wouldn't have to work for a living anymore. I'd be able to afford to play golf in space.

Actually I believe that's why they practice. Just maybe Vince doesn't make good decisions in practice. You would have to check with Jeff Fischer on that. I have no clue about their practices. It's not just about the athleticism of the QB. It's all the other intangibles he brings.

Mack Brown made it known that Chris Simms was the better QB in practice than Major Applewhite. some people just know how to play the game on gameday.

i would have to say Collins' intangibles are limited.
Lhornfan
Time to give VY another shot. I don't think anyone had the Titans at 0-4 right now, and I didn't think their defense would play as bad as they have thus far. Kerry Collins is playing like... well, Kerry Collins. His QB rating this year is 69.9, and career QB rating is 73.7. Young's is right there with Collins, but he is young and has room to grow. He also gives the Titans another threat with his running ability. Make the call Fisher... it's time.
GreezyChef
I will be very shocked if he isn't starting next week.

You could have pick a good QB to pick from in your defense.

Is there really a need for your childish comments? Can he have an opinion that differs from yours without the sarcasm?

Really there is no offense taken. It's all in fun for me. I know I bring it on myself sometimes. BTW let me know of any openings. LOL!

It was a joke Sir. I notice you inject a little humor into some of your posts but I guess your different. In the future I'll run my post by you to see if you approve or quit posting at all.

I'm choosing the latter.

Plus, I noticed that space took at as a joke which I stated with the" jk"(just kidding)

but thanks for your input "Mr Administrator on a Message Board"

good bye

So if I was to put a jk in my post it would all be good? Interesting! I can say whatever I want to say as long as I include a jk! Cool!
