Our host company, Perfect Presence has requested we change from the server we've been on for a few months to a completely separate server.
I was told Smoaky.com is using a large majority of the available "power and space" on a server that has several other websites to manage and run.
That's a compliment to Smoaky.com and you the membership.
At times, although nothing lately, you may have seen an "IPS Driver Error" message when trying to get onto the forums. Our host company has increased their space and power on multiple occasions since the beginning of the football season to help offset our busiest time periods, but even then---it's not enough.
Having said all that, I need your attention on two issues:
1) The server change should occur sometime from early-Thursday morning. If you post a thread or response on a thread---there is a slight chance your post will bounce back and forth of appearing and disappearing as the changes occur. There is no rhyme or reason behind which posts or threads disappear---it's just something that might happen so I'm giving you a heads-up in advance. From what I've been told, we shouldn't lose anything else during the transition, at least we don't expect too---but you never know.
2) The server change is going to cost money, approximately 10-times of the original monthly amount I've been paying for several years. If you're interested in helping alleviate some of the costs and contributing to the maintenance and server change please click on the options at the bottom of the homepage or any of the forums sections with our PayPal setup.
For those who have contributed in the past, thank you. To those who will, thank you in advance.
If you do not have the option of using PayPal, you can u2u or email me (smoaky@smoaky.com) and I'll send you a mailing address for any donation.
I appreciate your time, interest, and support, and let's hope the server upgrade will make everything bigger, better and faster. I'm sure there will still be some blips along the way, but this should dramatically minimize them.
Thank you.
