With the lackluster first half performance against a terrible team, I feel that Wade Phillips should be held accountable and be dismissed. There is absolutely no excuse for this level of play, and it is Wade's responsiblity to have them ready to play and perform; I hope the Cowboys come back and win today, but even if they do, I would still pull the trigger.

As much as I like Wade, I would have to agree with you. He is a much better assistant than a head coach however, Garrett needs to go as well.

Dallas may indeed come back & win this game, but if it's brushed off as just another poor performance then it will just prolong what has to happen. If the Cowboys do not get rid of Wade & Garrett this team is doomed to be a middle of the road franchise for the rest of their tenure. e
No discipline, no focus, no drive. We were converting to a run oriented offense. Where is it? The offensive and defensive penalties are just too much to ignore.

No more kudos on the Cowboys defense from me. This is the 3rd game they have given up a long TD drive in the closing minutes to relinquish the lead. Can't get excited about a defense that plays good for 3.5 quarters, only to give it up in the last drive. You would think odds are with you that 1 player could make a play at least once in a while. Guess not.

Best chance at that was Newman. Despite his great stats, and status as the best CB on the team, he failed again.

Certainly glad they pulled this out, but I hope this doesn't deter the team from making changes. 13 penalties is absolutely inexcuseable. I can't see how Jerry Jones can continue to ignore the lack of focus & preparation this team has. Unfortunately J Jones chooses to ignore a lot of what he doesn't like.

Wade and garrett have got to go....wade is a good defensive coach but right now that isnt showing cause he has to much other stuff to worry about.....Garrett just flat out stinks....he wants to make himself look like some kind of genius that he isnt...RUN tha BALL???? why is that so hard???

Choice has 92 yards on 8 carries. And who gets the ball in the 4th quarter? Marion Barber, who needs to be the backup right now and rest his thigh. He's getting caught from behind and he isn't pushing piles forward right now. Choice and F Jones have the explosive speed that keeps linebackers from blitzing 2/3 of the time. Winning NFL teams have unbeatable running games...they control the clock and they convert 3rd downs with decisive qb's. Dallas (mainly Flozell) turns 3rd and 3 into 3rd and 8 more often than they convert. It's a lack of focus, a lack of discipline and most importantly, a lack of leadership.
It's time for Camp Cupcake to end with a real coach who shows some emotion to someone other than the refs, and for Jerry to stop worrying about hits on the salary cap for under-performing players. Newman and Flozell should be benched...and given an opportunity to EARN their starting spots back. Even if it means losses in the short term.

i know t.o. is a cancer and all according to most, but the guy opened up the field at least. defenses aren't scared of any of our recievers and load up the box. i'm a big roy williams fan but he's not a #1. austin got a chance and took advantage. to make this game as close as it was is a shame. kc absolutely stinks and we need overtime to beat them. gotta blame all three phases as the offense, defense, and special teams all had a hand in it. wade is a good defensive guy but not much else. garrett has turned from genius to very predictable. someone has got to be brought in that will challenge these players and not tolerate the stuff that's been going on. while they're cleaning house, send flozell packing!

It doesn't matter if they get rid of Phillips or not, Jerry would just install another spineless "yes man" as head coach. J Jones needs to become a passive owner and hire a true GM who will get a real head coach to run the team. Problem is, it ain't gonna happen! I would make another team a package deal with Romo, Jason Garrett and throw Phillips in to sweeten the deal!

Heavy handed owners like JJ and Al Davis who meddle with EVERYTHING going on with the team never seem to understand the true problems of their franchise because they seem to be looking at many other issues with running the team and the bottom line financially. I think it makes it that much harder to concentrate on football. When they turn out to be wrong or have made bad choices with personnel decisions, there is no one else to turn to ... they can't fire themselves, or can they?

Did anyone see the Denver coach today after the win? That's what I want in a Cowboy coach...a guy that will get fired up and show some emotion. Phillips may be a great defensive coach...but he's not a team leader. The players don't react to him...he doesn't inspire them to step up. Dallas got lucky today against a very inferior team!

I do not like Jerry Jones's style of trying to manage football aspects, however I will never question his will to win. I just wish he would ease up a little and give control to someone football savvy. He can still be hands on and in the loop and all that stuff, but leave the football those better qualified.

How many times has Jones been on the sidelines during game play this season? The B.S. about Jones that I hear all the time has little to do with the truth. He is not as heavy handed as people seem to believe. He did not force Landry out of coaching, and he does not micro-manage the entire Cowboys team.
The guy sits quietly in his box at the games, and I still hear people who would have no real clue as to the validity and truth of their statements say things like, "Oh, he has still given his instructions to the coaches.." Gimme a break!
Some Cowboys fans are like a bunch of gossiping geese. A bunch of squawking that doesn't really mean anything.
As for Phillips, well, yeah, he should no longer be the head coach. The DC position is open. He should move permanantly into that position and make room for a new head coach.

Very well said. Barber still isn't healthy, but then again, he wasn't performing like a #1 RB should anyway before the injury. Choice should be the starter based solely on his stats. Jones should also have the chance to be the starter, if he can get and stay healthy. Since Barber got his money, he hasn't played nearly as well or as hard.
Flozell is possibly the worst tackle in football. No excuses for him anymore. Newman plays like he just doesn't care or is confused. Just can't figure him out. Crayton is another one that needs to be benched. Pathetic performances out of him most of the year. Why is he returning punts? Average speed at best doesn't help you at returning punts. He also doesn't finish his routes and gives up and jogs when he realizes he is covered fairly well. Bench that slug and start Miles Austin, he defintely earned that chance yesterday by saving the game for us.

Is it just me or was the kneel down at the end of regular play to go to OT an absolutely brain dead decision by Wade Phillips?
The Cowboys were not backed up in their end zone, Miles Austin is having a career day and Romo has been on... why would you kneel to run out the clock with 14 seconds on it? Take a long shot down the field!!!! IF it was intercepted the chance of a return for a TD is absolutely minimal.
That is gutless, spineless coaching by Wade Phillips. He trusted the flip of a coin more than taking a chance down the field. He lost the flip of a coin by the way. The defense didn't hold to end the game what makes Wade think they will hold in OT?
He should be fired or demoted (demotion would be best but wouldn't work)... promote Garrett, if he stinks it up as head coach fire him at the end of the season and go get someone new. Time for a change, the clock is ticking on the talent the Cowboys has.
This repetitive poor performance after poor performance while shooting themselves in the foot along the way is getting really old. Coaches and players need to follow the examples of Brooking, Austin and Ratliff from this game and play/coach with some heart and stop committing stupid penalties!
