With Longview going for their 60th consecutive First Division at UIL Region this year, it got me thinking...is there somewhere I could get a list of all of the consecutive records for UIL marching? Has anyone done the research and put a list together? I know Plainview (4A West Texas school) has somewhere around 70 consecutive. I've seen some of their previous contest drills and they are amazing. I've heard that some other bands have around 40, some in the 30's, etc but would love a definitive, complete list. IF it's out there. Does anyone know?

Wouldn't that be a nice thing? I would think that you'd have to track down some salty old band director in their 70's or 80's to get some of the scoop. And then, the information might be sketchy at best.

The UIL website goes back a bit, but not very far. I suppose the only way to find out that information would be to hope that those schools would have a BUNCH of old files, comment sheets, in a back room somewhere. Unfortunately, I bet many of those have been long since thrown out.

LOTS of great band programs across the state, many with a long, proud tradition of excellence. Certainly, ones that other band directors could look to for advice and counsel. But, you know, there are not many humble, young band directors out there anymore. They graduate and want to teach at the big school and want to do things their own way. Old school directors like some I know would kick them in the rear if they knew how some of them acted.
