OCD research project for myself: both Cole Hamels and Clayton Kershaw drew walks at the plate last night ... 'must now locate the last time both starting pitchers accomplished that in a postseason game w00t.gif

Game 2

Pedro Martínez (5-1, 3.63)

Vicente Padilla (12-6, 4.46)

^ the first time in MLB history where opposing starting pitchers in a postseason game did not join their respective teams until August...

...was in Game 2 of the 1979 NLCS: Pirates starting pitcher Jim Bibby and Reds starting pitcher Frank Pastore both earned a free pass to first base in the game.

Torre left Kershaw in the game too long last night. That homer sealed the deal and the Dodgers couldn't recover.

Going to be real hard to rebound from a Game 1 loss at home.

W O W ! MLB fans obsessed with watching the Yankees are missing a very good NLCS wink.gif

What a ballgame! In fact, two great LCS ballgames on the same day. Rollins wins it in the bottom of the ninth! First time since Kirk Gibson's heroics in Game 1 of the 1988 WS in which a team in the postseason walked off with a win while trailing and being down to its last out.

Someone convince me that the Phillies are not playing the best Baseball of the four remaining teams...

Yankees still easily have the best record since the All-Star break and have dominated the postseason thus far. smile.gif

^ the regular season records are irrelevant ... the Phillies are playing the best postseason Baseball wink.gif

I was kinda pulling for the Dodgers because of Torre. I wanted him to do real well again so the Yankees would continue to look stupid for letting him leave/forcing him out, whichever the case was.

One thing I WILL NOT miss is seeing Manny Ramirez's pathetic self out there pretending to be a baseball player. Now Manny has all the time in the world to take his showers while his teammates will probably continue to work on there games.

Congratulations to the Phillies for becoming the first back-to-back National League Pennant winners since the 1995-1996 Atlanta Braves ... they will represent the Senior Circuit AND MLB very well in the Fall Classic.
