1A Band results:
Big Sandy 3-3-3 (but received a 4 because they did not march at least 5 minutes)

That's a 1 rating penalty.
Hawkins 1-2-1
Maud 3-1-2
James Bowie 1-2-1
Waskom 2-2-2

(a BIG surprise)
James Bowie will be the lone advancing band to Area C in Longview on Saturday. Hawkins has chosen not to participate. Not sure of why Maud (with at least one "1") does not get to go. Maybe it's because at least 2 bands made a one?? Very odd.
Congrats to James Bowie. This is the first Division 1 in a very long time for the Pirate Band. A big "we are proud of you" to the director and students!

Wow Big Sandy. I wonder why they couldn't come up with 5 minutes? That's a shame.

Any results?
Sabine got straight 1's from all of the judges. There is no stopping the Sabine Cardinal Band. I saw them, they are really good for such a young band. Congrats to them. Bravo

Region 4 was killer on the 4A bands this year:
Mt Pleasant 2, 1, 1
Texas High 2, 2, 1
Kilgore 2, 1, 2
Marshall 2, 2, 2
Sul Springs 1, 1, 1
Pine Tree 1, 1, 1
Not a lot of straight ones given out.
PT and SS were head and shoulders better than all the others no doubt. But the scoring seems a little convuluded with all the others.
The mix of I's and 2's made no sense to me. All the ones that looked and sounded like I's got a one and the II's got 2's. The ones with the mix of I's and II's were judges being polite IMHO.
It pains me to see Marshall not make a I. After some 30 years of division I's, getting a 2 is PAINFUL. But the new staff has them headed in the right direction and the pride will return VERY SOON. They just need to get their numbers back.... and from what I hear, they will be coming.
Congrats to all!

Maud didn't get to go because they didn't get a "1" overall. 3+2+1/3 would give them a 2 overall. Just getting a single 1 doesn't make u qualify for Area.
