Texas High defeated Marshall 19-0 to win the 13-4A Team Tennis Title. This marks the school's 20th consecutive fall team tennis championship which began in 1990. Combined with their Combined Scores in the Spring Season, Texas High has won 40 consecutive district tennis titles under Coach John Watson.

Congrats to the Tiger and Coach Watson.

This is a very impressive accomplishment and well deserved. It demonstrates the impact of strong youth programs, good coaching and good facilities. And a tradition of success builds momentum for the future.

With such a strong program, what are the team's expectations for the regional tournament? Pretty high, I would expect. But it's a very tough region to advance out of.

Pine Tree is in a rather different position. I would guess very few played much tennis in their early years. Most probably started playing competitively in 9th grade. And there are some seniors who are in their first or second year. Their big achievement (perhaps overachievement) was to edge out Longview for 2nd place. I would expect their goal at regional is to compete well and hopefully improve on last year's 11th place finish.

In any case, congratulations to both teams and best of luck at the regional.

Not associated with the program, but they seem a bit down. They lost several boys to home schooling which weakened what could have been a very stout group. When you lose #2 everyone moves up and you are a notch weaker on the ladder.

My thought is they will not be seeded and subject to the luck of the draw. In most years they are either a top 4 seed or a "placed" team. I see HP, Pearce, Midway, both Frisco schools and Coriscana to be ahead of them at the seeding meeting. They lost to Corsicana when their #1 was at a Southerns Tourney.

I believe they place the top 8 teams, then the 9-16 are luck of the draw. They shouldn't have to play a top tier team in the first round. I think you have the top 6 teams correct. Texas High will probably get 7. Kilgore or Mesquite Poteet will probably get 8. Haven't seen anything on Poteet this year.

bordertown...just cuase your not on the team anymore doesnt mean you have to hate on them...why dont you get behind the team you use to be on and support them. im not really a texas high fan but i respect what they did...them doing this shows if they lose their two player it doesnt really matter becuase the people on the team know how to win.

Never played organized tennis. Why would once start a thread about a team winning 20 in a row if I "hate on them". Sometimes in life you have to be objective. Rankings are based on who you played and how you fared. While they finished #3 in the region, going in to tourney, the regions coaches saw Texas High like I did. Their upset of the #2 team in the state was a huge win.

However, I have noted a continuity of your playing down Texas High's accomplishments in the past.
