All good bands, I knew White Oak and Union Grove would be the Military Bands that were in it.

White Oak was higher than Union Grove? Very impressive. Kudos to them.

So what if bowie didn't make it to state. We had a great run! We lost out by 4pts! Carlisle, Tenaha, and Timpson did really well.. I know there was something going on with us that didn't make that our best performance, but better luck later on. It was my last year to be able to advance, but we still have the chance to be a sweepstakes band.. Just got to get a 1 on concert, and a 1 on sight reading, and there you go! That's all i got to say.

I believe that only the top 3 go to state, so if that is the correct order, Union Grove is out. Is White Oak going to NAMMB too? Iknow the last time Pitt went ot State, Mr. Steele opted not to go to NAMMB. IT would be to much to do both. congrats WO!!

ALL 4 BANDS GO TO STATE... 2 corp bands 2 military, so Union Grove is going.

One of the judges was a joke. Union Grove got a 2nd, 4th, and 10th rankings from the judges. The same judge that gave Union Grove the 10th had Dekalb in 2nd. Anybody that was their knows Dekalb was not the 2nd best band in the finals, in fact they were the worst band in the finals.

judges usually go by what they see...sorry just because that judge put U.G. 10th place IN MARCHING doesnt mean theyre a joke....i saw Grove at UIL this year and yes they play extremely well, but their weakest part is the marching, especially in that accelerated tempo section...Dekalb didnt do anything overly hard in their marching so they probably didnt have many points deducted....and Dekalb didn't get last place in the finals so, apparently they weren't the worst of the group...

on a side note...me being in this region 4 side of texas i think its great that 7 of the 10 bands in the finals were from region 4...and 3 of the 4 advancing to state are from region 4....

You should get your facts straight before you start your trash talking. De Kalb received a 3rd place and a 5th place vote for marching, so what that tells me is that the judge wasn't too far off, and De Kalb just marched pretty well. You're right, their music wasn't great, but how would you react if your only snare drummer dropped a drumstick...you might be a little freaked out too. I wish that people would think before they make comments like that. Can't you just be happy that you are going back to state. Instead of focusing on a band that wasn't better than you, focus on those that are. Focus on making yourself better so that a judge can't even think about giving you a 10th place vote.

Why does anyone have to come on a call someone a joke. Man guys, grow up. All the bands were great and we are just thankful to be there and be around all these great bands in east texas. QC you rocked and were by far our favorite, but everyone was good! Arrogance is not becoming. Lets all root each other on. East Texas will dominate state and thats a great thing.

One other thing. This is Mr. Steele's 4th time to go. ND, PITT twice, and now WO. Were all just so glad to be there. Thanks for all the great support!

No, because there were enough bands at Contest, the top 4 could go. White Oak beat Union Grove by 2 points; Congratulations to all bands!

On a side note, I think it's very immature for White Oak band members to be trash talking UG and other schools online and being rude by flipping off one of our drum majors at contest, it's dumb and disrespectful. However, congratulations White Oak and best of luck to the Regiment.

Where did you see WO Band members trash talking? I think the last guy just stood up and played the cards right on what he said. We should all be happy to be there. The flipping off stuff, was taken care of and it was all because of couple of trouble makers. That won't happen again.

There was some online chat messages that were exchanged between a couple of WO Band Members and a UG Member talking trash and being disrespectful; I've heard that Mr. Steele (is that WO's Director?) took care of the situation, but I wasn't so sure, thanks for confirming it. Like I said, Union Grove & White Oak HS Bands are both excellent and best of luck to them both!

It was stupid and immature for your band members to start a conversation with one of ours and start talking trash just because. If the shoe were on the other foot, I don't think you'd like it, either. And besides, who talks trash about MARCHING BAND?! It's pitiful. But I do agree with you 1000% on East Texas dominating State! Queen City, Anahuac, White Oak & Union Grove are all great bands and deserve to perform Monday. As always, best of luck!

Any prelim results? I heard the Forsan and Sundown finished 1-2 in Class A prelims, but other than that no idea...

For Class A, I know that Tolar HS (Go Rattlers! :]) made the Finals, and is performing first.

For Class AA, I know that neither White Oak or Union Grove made the finals; Union Grove placed 8th and they only take top 7.

Anahuac and Queen City (of course!) made the Class AA Finals. If I hear anything else, I'll post.

Director's preference. When I was in school at WHS we never attended Area and only went to NAMMB in '96 and '97.

Judges preference put WO above UG. Or is it backwards? Just curious where you got your info.

I noticed that, what I was told from band members from UG that WO & UG tied for 8th, but "technically" WO got 8th because of a marching point...? I'm not so sure, I'm still proud of Union Grove weather or not they placed 8th or 9th. Thanks for the link!
