Wade Phillips isn't going anywhere, As much as we all want him gone, Jerry likes a "yes man" and Wade is sure willing to sit back and be Jerry's puppet. When Al Davis finally kicks the bucket and Danny boy in Washington goes bankrupt and has to sell the team, we will officially have the dumbest owner in football.

You see this is what I don't understand. Dallas is sitting at 5-2, tied for the lead in the division, Romo has gone 3 straight games without an interception and STILL they're calling for Wade's head.

Now Jerry Jones is the dumbest owner in football barring Al Davis and Daniel Snyder...

Why does this not surprise me?

let me ask you this...you have a franchise QB sit on your bench for 3 years while vinny testeverde and drew bledslow are taking snaps...you have a guy like miles austin sitting the bench for 3 years before you find out HEY...this guy can make plays...you have the best running game in the league yet you continue to try to throw the ball at your own 12, up by 28 in the 4th quarter...these are all result of coaching and front office problems. people say jerry jones has a great eye for talent, well his eye is obviously limited. especially if he doesn't want to put the ball in felix jones and marion barbers hands more.

It's because some people don't know anything. They just don't like the person. Some people need to complain and it's just one thing they can grasp and try to hold on to. Wade obviously has good credentials to get to where he is. It has nothing to do with this so-called "yes man" mentality that some people claim. That analogy is just a jab to disrespect someone. The personality of Wade and the way he coaches is respected by others.

Jerry is no doubt a very smart owner. He has several Super Bowls to prove it.

i think it is ironic how wade phillips has more wins and after this year, just as many playoff appearances...but i never heard anyone say they wanted the tuna out. reason being, parcells is a more respectable coach to me. philips acts like a little fat kid who just got a cup cake after a 3 year diet every time dallas scores...i like coaches that get excited and has enthusiasm...but also have some maturity about you...act like your team has scored before...

NFL
Wade Phillips (Cowboys)
Jim Zorn (Redskins)
Steve Spagnuolo (Rams)
Todd Haley (Chiefs)
Tom Cable (Raiders)
Jack Del Rio (Jaguars) - Could possibly draft Tim Tebow, but would need to hire Urban Meyer to keep Tebow in his system.

College
Rich Rodriquez (Michigan)
Charlie Weis (Notre Dame)
Todd Dodge (North Texas)
Mike Sherman (Texas A&M)
coltsboy
Jeff Fisher. He's the longest lived head coach in the NFL. I think its time for a change. Even after the win this last week I still see him leaving

Looks like you don't know anything. If you think Wade is a good Head coach. A good defensive co. yes but head coach no.

Let me ask you this. If Bledsoe doesn't go down while playing for the Patriots, Tom Brady never gets discovered. So would that have made Bellichek an idiot because Brady would still have been sitting on the sidelines? Miles Austin rode the bench because of Terrell Owens and now that Owens is gone, Austin has emerged as a star receiver. Now then, let's get into the meat of your statement...

It wasn't that long ago that Tachard Choice was the only healthy running back on the team. You have got to give your running backs a chance to get healthy, which co-incidently is the same thing that the New Orleans Saints have been doing, the Patriots...yes, even the Steelers, Packers, Vikings...

Jason Garrett is doing the same thing that other offensive co-ordinators and head coaches are doing in this league. Which again, this team is sitting at 5-2 and their only losses were close games to the Giants and Broncos.

Right now, every team is winning a few games ugly. Look at the Saints who had to come back from a 24-3 deficit in order to win against the Dolphins. Look at the way the Vikings loss to the Steelers a couple of weeks back...or, how about the way the Eagles loss to the Raiders. Trust me, if that is your criteria for an idiot coach and owner, then that covers everyone in the league and not just limited to Dallas.

I guess your statement kinda confirms that Jerry is not calling the plays. He does want the ball in Felix's and Marion's hands more.

buckeyefan1984 I agree with your statements. Talent is not too far apart in the NFL. Only 2 plays over 2 games in the last seconds are preventing Dallas from be undefeated.

Lot's of talk in these parts about Fisher, especially after the stunt he pulled with this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C6HiSOlquc .

If the Cowboys have another December melt down, then Wade needs to go.
Dick Jauron, Jim Zorn, Eric Mangini, and Tom Cable (what a mess).
Youngblood
This season is a long long way from almost over. More than 60% of the games are yet to be played. Some teams that are hot right now will probably fade. Other teams not in great shape at this point will get on a roll.

If the Cowboys implode in December again, Phillips may be gone. But if the Cowboys even MAKE the playoffs he's probably not going anywhere yet.

One NFL coach (it may have been Parcells) once said "there are only 2 kinds of coaches in the NFL, those who have been fired and those who will be fired."

it's stupid when people play guys just because of their pay check...that is exactly what happened in both bledsoe cases...and the whole thing about austin riding the bench cuz of to is bs...why couldn't austin play opposite TO instead of crayton? and since t.o. has been gone austin still rode the bench for the first 4 games of the year...you've watched the guy practice for 3 years...you know what kind of talent he has...play him!

of course teams win ugly...this is just a case of knowing you have the best talent in the league and not using it the best you can...the vikes are different because d-coordinators scheme around peterson and the vikes have been beating teams with the passing game. teams scheme against our pass game and we still pass the ball a ton. so you're tellin me jason garrett's play calling is good? the talent the cowboys have is getting them yards, but the playcalling of jason garrett is keeping them out of the endzone...ranked 2nd in the league in yards per game and 7th in points per game...somewhat of an efficiency slip there.

Dallas is averaging a little over 28 points a game..... which is tied for eighth with Indy. They are scoring well. Controlling the ball is where I would worry. They have stepped that up some. I do wished we run the ball more. Still too much passing.

I will agree with rideumrough SOMEWHAT. Jerry Jones does want a "yes man" that's undeniable. However, I don't think he is a stupid owner but I don't think he's all that smart either. I'll give some examples.

When Jerry got Jimmy Johnson(smart). When Jimmy Johnson quit you know something was going on with him and Jerry. Jimmy Johnson is arguably the best coach the Cowboys have had. Just as many Superbowls as Tom Landry. I still like Landry better though.Jimmy Johnson was not a "yes man"

Parcells wasnt a "yes man" either and he was in Dallas just long enough to get the Cowboys back in the playoffs. Then Wade Phillips came in with a team HANDED to him by Parcells. Won the division the first year of coaching and everybody thought he was some awesome coach. It didn't take me long to see right through that. Especially after last year when instead of Wade showing emotion during the game, he would make pitiful excuses for the Cowboys in the press conferences. With all of the talent we have we should have won the division easily, but something went wrong. When you go from 13 and 3 and then 9 and 7 the next year with the same players you know somethings wrong.

With that said NO Wade Phillips will not be on the hot seat after this year, but IMO he should be.

"When you go from 13 and 3 and then 9 and 7 the next year with the same players you know somethings wrong."

Yeah its called INJURIES! It's widely known what happened. And no you can't tell anything about how a coach coaches by the way he talks during interviews. This is not Parcells team. So what they got in the playoffs. It was Wades' system and Romo QB'ing that helped do that. Parcells did not improve the team over any other coach we've had in the recent past. Wade has stayed with his plan and that is what won 13 games that season.

Winning runs in cycles. Once a nucleus is together that works and you build around it there are usually great seasons and perhaps championships. I liked Jimmy Johnson but he was not this great wizard of a coach that won and left. He was a good coach with some exceptional players that came together and stayed together. Jimmy had a good chance to win in Miami after he left but could not win.

Dallas has lost some really good coaches that are now head coaches. During these recent years of Wade Phillips these good coaches have left. It takes time to get more good ones in place their system working they want.

Changes will slow down progress. It does not mean we have a bad Head Coach.

Up until Terry Glenn got hurt, he and Terrell Owens were the two wideouts with Jason Witten as the TE...so exactly where was Miles Austin supposed to get snaps? Oh wait, that came AFTER Glenn and Owens departures from Dallas. But you know, that is what happens in the NFL. Mark Brunell was a QB in Green Bay before he finally found a home in Jacksonville...was it Green Bay's fault that Brunell didn't see playing time in Green Bay? No, because of the salary cap and because of injuries we got to see the diamonds in the rough that Tony Romo and Miles Austin have turned out to be. Was Jimmy Johnson the great coach that everyone makes him out to be? I don't know, Jimmy Smith was arguably one of the best wide receivers in the game, but couldn't crack the starting lineup because of Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper...

Now then, Dallas ranked 2nd in the league in yards per game and 7th in points per game, but they also have a 5-2 record and sitting in a tie for 1st in the NFC East. This coming after (2) single digit losses to the Giants and Denver...I don't really recall seeing Dallas falling behind anyone 24-3 in the first half like the Saints have...(lucky that Miami didn't have a passing game), or lucky that Atlanta couldn't get a running game going. Minnisota who is supposed to be the 2nd best team in the NFC had had its own fair share of troubles relating to yardage per game, and lack of points to go with it. Yes Adrian Peterson is having yet another banner year and Bret Favre has already swept the Packers twice...but low and behold is the miserable finish against the Steelers.

Funny, the only real team who is undefeated after the Saints are the Colts and yet they too, fire passes into the endzone when a running attack would far more suffice. Does that mean that the Colts head coach and owner are idiots as well?

Just wondering.

How sweet it is!!! You make too much sense for some people. It's amazing how people seem to think that things have to be perfect or they are sorry good for nothings. Or they can't coach, catch, run or pass. Finally someone else recognizes what Peyton does when there is no need in it.

I'll even go one step further. When Tom Brady set the NFL record for touchdown passes, most of those came in the redzone...does that mean that Billechik and Craft are idiots? no, I didn't think so. But I do see a double standard around here because it seems that everyone wants to bash Jerry Jones no matter what he does.

Why don't we compare records of the Dallas Cowboys WITH Wade Phillips over the past 3 seasons, and the records of every other NFL team during the same period. I'll be interested to see where the Cowboys stack up. I'll be willing to bet that Dallas would be way up there record wise.

But also, I would like to know statistically wise, just how many of Peyton Manning's touchdown passes have come while inside the red zone AND close to the goal line? You know, since we're bashing Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett.
