How did the New York race turn out???
And I hear that the good ole boys in the gop are trying to mess things up in Kentucky....Ron Paul's son is leading in the gop primary for senator and the country clubbers and blue blooders in the part don't like it so they are trying to get an "establishment" republican in the race.....that's what will cause the death of the "grand old party" because we conservatives are sick and tired of it....NO MORE MODERATES AND NO MORE COMPROMISES......

The dim won because the gop has decided that conservatives don't matter...until the gop once again realizes that they are irrelevant without conservatives, the dims will continue to win......we won't vote for democrat light.....the gop should have been supporting Hoffman from the beginning instead of that liberal calling herself a republican who they did support.......Party is now irrelevant to me and most conservatives...we wil vote strictly ideology.....and a conservative democrat will get my vote over a liberal or even a moderate republican any day of the week....if there is no conservative in those two, I'll go with a third party.....the equation has become very simple......

I see your point as far as the congressional seat being at the Federal level, but for two states to vote in Republican governors just a year after strongly voting for Obama sends a larger message at the national level. Obama campaigned several times for the incumbent New Jersey governor and it failed to put Corzine over the top.

Bottom line, there is lots of work to do. If the Republican Party got the message, they need to purge the Rinos, give conservatives NATIONALLY a list of targeted and vulernable Reps and senators in order for us to assit those out of state races. No matter how conservative Texas is, if nationally the libs win, we have to abide. obama, despite the lies he is not worried, is. and he will begin campaigning for the '10 elections. Conservatives cannot rest. The economy is on our side though.

Problem was, when the RINO pulled out, a lot of absentee and early votes had already been cast to her... and then when she pulled out, they couldn't change the ballot. Since she was a liberal anyway, I wonder if it was a set-up for the Dems to win anyway...
Thing is, a real clear message was sent not only to the GOP, but also the Blue Dog Dems...those 2 governorships may have turned the tide on healthcare and cap and trade... we'll see...
But yep, you're totally right...we cannot rest, and even after we do things change, we're going to have to keep on them like stink on a skunk....

Historically the opposition party gains seats in the next election after a president is elected from a different party. There's nothing wrong for you to be optimistic, but you don't actually think democrats will gain seats in the mid-term elections, do you? The only question is how many seats the democrats will lose, not if they will lose any. History and Obama's sinking popularity makes it highly probable that the historic trend of mid-term congressional elections will continue.

You need to read more carefully. I said that when a president from a different party than the incumbent is elected, they lose seats in the next mid-term elections. Clinton was elected in 1992; the Republicans gained majorities in both houses of Congress in 1994 (does the contract with America ring a bell?) I wasn't referring to any mid-term elections during a re-elected presidents tenure, but during a newly elected president from a different party's first term. Please stick to the original subject, which is how the mid-term elections of 1994 are comparable in circumstance to the upcoming mid-term elections of 2010.

Very Big News
Fellow citizen,
Well, you are really making history in the Kentucky U.S. Senate primary! Our hard work and the fervor and excitement I see every day on the campaign trail is generating real results.
A WHAS11/Survey USA poll released recently showed that we have completely erased the lead held by our establishment-supported opponent - and we created a small one of our own. According to the poll, we are now supported by 35% of Kentucky Republican voters, versus 32% who support our opponent. Just a couple of months ago, we trailed by 11%. What an amazing turn of events!
Your efforts have sent a strong message to the leaders of the Republican party that our voters will no longer support Republicans who expand the role of government, debase our currency and mortgage our future. You are the driving force behind not only a candidacy, but also a movement. You are changing the face of America.
So many people said that it couldn't be done. They said that we would never mount a serious campaign. They said we would never raise significant campaign money. You proved them wrong.
One of the key ways in which we proved the viability of our candidacy was through our amazing fund raising efforts. Thus far, we have raised over $1.3 million from more than 13,000 individuals. Our average donation is under $85.00. Compare this to the big money donations to our opponent. There is no comparison. We represent the people, while our opponent represents the special interests.
In Liberty,
Christopher Hightower
