Coaches, this one is for you.

Do you enjoy the alumni games in the aspect that its fun for the kids and keeps the alumni (boosters) involved, or would you rather do away with the game.

What are your opinions. Pros and Cons.

I like the idea of the alumni game but I don't do it anymore because I don't like losing a scrimmage against an actual team just to have the alumni. Alumni games are fun for everyone involved but your varsity team just doesn't get the same look that a disciplined team can give you. I have a feeling that if UIL passes the December scrimmage that is being proposed by TASCO then we will see more Alumni games on that December date. If that happens I would try to go back to doing an Alumni game.

I have done a faculty game in December, which is allowed as opposed to an Alumni game. We're not doing it again because it's even worse than an alumni game but again fun for everyone....well, the first few minutes are fun for the teachers but they quickly run out of steam smile.gif

I guess I should say that I have seen alumni games work and actually give the varsity team a good test but I've seen the opposite more.

Our Alumni game is an ALL alumni game. We play odd years against even years or young guys against old guys and then go eat afterwards. But, if you play your alumni game on the same day as a scrimmage, you can count it as part of a multi-team scrimmage so it doesn't count against you.

That's right. I hadn't thought about that. Good stuff
