Sooners fall out of Top 25 poll after 10-3 loss at Neb. late Sat. night.

Looks like OU could be headed to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport this year!

The Sooners' fall could hurt Texas in the BCS picture if No. 1-2-3 get that close. You never know how the computers will process the data sometimes.

totally different team without bradford.

Actually, as big a loss as was Bradford, Jermaine Gresham's loss was worse, in that he would have provided a safety net for Landry, as well as freeing up Eldridge for run-blocking.

I was optimistic heading into the season (before Gresham was lost for the season) that between Sam, Gresh, DeMarco and Broyles, that the oline would have the luxury of "growing up". Then we had a rash of injuries to the already green o line, which resulted in Eldridge, our backup TE, having to play center (undersized), and all the other olinemen having to play musical chairs, resulting in a horrible season-opener with BYU, and losing Sam.
Along with everything else, the status on Eldridge, the only consistent blocker at any line position, is up in the air.

Four losses: by 1, 1, 3 and 7. And all winnable but for the aforementioned.

Sometimes seasons just head south, like ours has. It really hurts to have a D as good as ours to be essentially wasted because the o can't hold up their end.

What a difference a year makes.

I haven't given up hope, but after the terrible performance by the offense Saturday, I am pessimistic that we will win in Lubbock. I still am hopeful for the two games in Norman, but not nearly as much so as I was a week ago.

don't worry about the bcs, as long as texas is #1, 2, or3 they will be in the championship game.

The difference is Bradford. When you have open receivers and you overthrow them or throw behind them all SEASON. It is the QB. Jones throws an awsome looking ball, but he does not have the control. His high throws have punished his receivers all year, and come back to bite him yesterday. He has had all season to correct this, but last night was his very first experience in a very hostile environment ( sorry - cotten bowl is neutral ). And he failed the test. There will be big competition next year at the QB position. I sort of feel as if I am watching Chris Simms when I watch Jones play. All the talent in the world - whats he gonna be able to accomplish with it?

Eh, Texas doesn't have anything to worry about if they take care of business.

And as far as the bowl situation, if the Sooners don't end up in the Cotton Bowl, they will either be in the Holiday Bowl or the Alamo Bowl. When A&M beats Baylor, they will then have 6 wins and the Aggies will be the team that gets the Independence Bowl.

With A&M,Tech and OSU the only games left on the schedule its going to be tough for them to even get a bowl...None of these are easy wins for them IMO. They could end up 8-4 or 5-7.

None of those teams have a defensive line like Nebraska. OU should win out.

I think they should too...However all three can put up points and all three can get to the qb. its going to be a challenge for sure.

They won't be down for long, you can count on that. Growing pains and injuries have really taken a toll on them. They'll be back soon, unfortunately. coolio.gif

The Sooners have just had one of those years where every thing negative cascades with significant injuries. They do happen. But the Sooners will be back next year and be as tough as ever. This happens to everyone somewhere along the line. It could easily be Texas. Just think about it...McCoy out; Shipley out; Kindle; Muckelroy; Thomas; it does not take much. Even if just for a coupla games.
