Lindale, yes. Palestine, it will be close. If the 3A cutoff moves up any at all, as it is expected to do, Palestine will stay 3A, but you never know when the UIL is involved.

Hallsville 1183 - Any word on Nacogdoches? Someone from there told me back in September that they were around 1900!!

If Palestine turned in 908 then I fully expect them to stay AAA. Curious about our friends to the south in Elk country, strangely quiet. Some rumors that they might have AAA numbers. If Palestine got excited about getting Westwood, how would they feel getting to play Elkhart. Interesting:whistle:

Do not schedule a game with Palestine unless you get the home game first . they might take the money and run. Want honor a contract.
Pball
Be glad you didn't play them.......

You need to grow up - Learning how to spell wouldn't hurt either.

Palestine is returning 15 starters next year. They will be ready, home game or not.

Don't think that's true. Yea, the game with was called off. Our sup, made a judgement call, Because of the threat of "Rita" I don't think that was called for. thumbdown.gif

Jacksonville came down the same road. and passed through
Tatum to play that night.
Palestine should have to come up with some gate money and concession stand money. They also were not out the expence of travel.

Thats pretty close ...1875-1900 ...but we will stay 4A since the new cutoff is 1975.

Another important point that needs to be understood is that Palestine was designated as a shelter for hurricane evacuees. Tatum was not at all in the same situation. Several of PISD schools were used as shelters and became full to their capacity. The district shut down the schools for the day on September 23 in anticipation of the arrival of hundreds of hurricane evacuees. And they came in large numbers all through the weekend.

Being "scared" of a football opponent was not even a consideration and is simply not true. In fact, a football game at the time seemed pretty unimportant when compared with the task of taking in hundreds of victims needing a place to stay after having been forced to flee from their former homes. In the grand scheme of things, I believe that many more people will remember Palestine for the kindness that the citizens showed to hundreds of strangers seeking a safe place to stay for a few days rather than as a school that cancelled a football game.

Of course, there will always be those whose priorities are a little different than the majority of the people. As for them, they can just think whatever it is they would like to think. It doesn't make them right, however.

Can anyone explain how Hallsville has an enrollment of 1183 in the high school?
I drove thru there the other night and the town population was 2772.
HankTheCowDog
As a former Hallsville resident, I can explain the huge school enrollment. The school district extends all the way west to the Gregg/Harrison county line, which takes in part of the city of Longview. For instance, on Loop 281, HISD ends near the McCoy's building materials store, on US80 it is just to the east of the cheap motels near Eastman Road, and at I20 most of the Eastman plant is in HISD. In addition, the rural areas between Hallsville and Longview are pretty densely populated.

Call the high school office and get the number reported and lets see how it fits in.
