OK, Feb. 2 and Realignment Day is fast approaching.

If you have any predictions on how certain districts will be aligned (teams that will be in them), share them with us here!

And what about the possible cut-off numbers for each classification?

Let us hear from you and then after all is said and done we can look back and see who knew at least a little bit about what they were talking about!

My only prediction is that the U.I.L. will fool us all in their thinking process!!!!!! They will find a way to mess things up once again and leave us all scratching our heads in disbelief!

i just hope athens moves down
SptsEd
If history holds, and the bottom number in Class 4A goes up, Athens should drop. Though it didn't move the last time (the bottom number), the previous two realignments the bottom number increased by 55 and 60. If that happened this time, Athens at 947 would drop to Class 3A.
allbig8
Athens in 3A would make them competitive at the very least...

Athens
Canton
Kemp
Mabank
Eustace
Wills Point

or......

Athens
Brownsboro
Bullard
Van
Canton
Chapel Hill??

Every year the UIL surpises at least a few people with their realignment. I really believe that this year will see the most drastic changes ever!! I really believe that 5A and A will have several more teams than last year. That squeezes the middle classifications and it's raelly a wild guess what the numbers will be but here's mine anyway:

5A - 1899 and up
4A - 939 - 1898
3A - 419 - 938
2A - 209 - 418
A - 208 and below

The old East Texas 4A district looks like this:

Marshall
Hallsville
Pine Tree
Kilgore
Henderson
Jacksonville
Whitehouse
Lindale

Nacogdoches will be sent south like their neighbor in 5A, Lufkin.
JacobsDad412
I guess there is no cap on the high end of 5A, but does anyone know who is the largest 5A in the state?
allbig8
Isn't Plano maybe Judson
Red90fly
They start up top then work their way down. 1a gets what's leftover.
eagle9166
If Tatum does drop to 2-a what district do you think they will be in, any one have any ideal.
Red90fly
Tatum

Do yall think it could something like this:

Tatum, Garrison, Timpson, SA, Shelbyville in district?? WOW, now that would be somethin'!!

Other district would be Hemphill, Newton, Hardin, Kountze, EC, Deweyville.

thanks red 90 fly

That's fine with me

If they are going to alow 4 teams from 5a to go to the playoffs then there could be alot of 8 team districts in 5a. So with them needing more teams in 5A to make as many 8 team districts as they can , the numbers may stay close to the same if not go down a little.
hoopscoach17
Exactly my point with my predictions, 514. If you notice I have the bottom of 5A dropping about 25 students from last time. That's why I believe Nacogdoches will go back to 5A and go south with Lufkin. The reason I didn't drop the other classifications is that I think there will also be more teams in class A, given they want 2 divisions. Thus leaving fewer teams in 2A, 3A and 4A.

I hope you are wrong because because the ratio of students in 3A schools (419-938) would be 2.23, compared to the others 4A 2.02, 2A 2.00 and class A at 2.08 if the cutoff for 11 man is 100. 5A the ratio is way over as it should be. I think the 3A coaches would be extremely upset. I personally believe the top end of 3A will be around 855.

They could align with
EF
Waskom
Tatum
Harleton
New Diana
Ore City

Of course a couple of those schools might not be in 2A. Tatum & EF have grown tremendously from the old days and Beckville has drop some along with Waskom. IE Beckville use to be in with that bunch and New Diana in a seperate district.

Could be Waskom & EF in that district and SA out.

If the trend from the previous four realignments holds, the top number in Class A will increase by 10, going to 199. There are a lot of schools in that neighborhood, which just may affect that number and make it increase to as much as 210-215. Stay tuned.

189 - 389
btex
In 1A they have to also look at basketball, because of the number of schools who do not play football. Can't have 10 team districts. My guess is 1A will be 196. But I wish it was 195
32read
i agree that 1A will not go over 200 based in the fact that alot of 1A teams dont play football. if it goes over 200 you would have to many basketball teams and the spring sports would be glutoned as well. 189 was the last number, been going up by 10 a year for the last 3 years i know. 199 will be the top i predict and 194 is even more possible b/c you already have some teams going down based on enrollment. the 3 teams does make it interesting though and what the uil will do to fill out the brackets or with byes according to the number. makes for good discussion anyway.
btex
If the 1A number is 199 there will be alot of teams from 2A that went deep in the playoffs coming down. means the 3 team in playoffs wont matter it will look more like 2A playoffs than 1A.
Red90fly
From what I've been able to gather on #'s, 199 would drop around 25 schools to 1a. That would probably be plenty.
godawgs
Heres a prediction for 1A in extreme east texas area.

Garrison
Timpson
Joaquin
Mt Enterprise
Cushing
Tenaha
allbig8
Timpson/ Garrison turned in 202........ I just don't think that would bring them down......

I may be way off here, but 1A only sent 31% of its teams to the playoffs during the last realignment period. Compare this to the other classifications: 5A(39%), 4A(44%), 3A(52%)ugh.gif, 2A(46%). I'm saying that adding the extra team puts 1A right in line with the others. I don't know? We'll know Thursday!
Red90fly
It isn't basketball that will be the problem in 1a, it is track! That's is where they have 10-15 teams in a district and that is why I don't think their will be a huge makeover with 1a.

I would not be completely surprised if the # only went up by 5 to 194 or even stayed the same and they still had the byes in 1a.

I think the most it goes up to is 199.
sports r us
It wouldn't surprise me if the 3A bottom number stays the same and the top goes up to 950-960. I figure they think 3A is for the most part happy with the 5 man districts (with 3 teams making the playoffs). This would leave 1A and 2A about the same 5-10 difference maybe.

....Or because Sabine turned in 416 the cutoff is 415 lol
orangepower
I think 3A will be squeezed. I think they will raise the bottom number a little bit and lower the top number a little bit. Gilmer is right in the middle so I dont care either way what they do. I'm more concerned with where they put the Buckeyes. My prediction is they leave Gilmer right where they are.
sports r us
If Jefferson goes down, Pittsburg goes East

Gilmer
Gladewater
White Oak
Spring Hill
Sabine

Unless both dangerfield and Jefferson go down from that District

Then both Gilmer and Pittsburg go east and then Carthage or Mineola go into above district.

My wild guess lol
orangepower
I dont think they will move Gilmer into Atlanta's district for money reasons. I would take that disrict you listed above though. Talk about some good old fashion rivalries.
SptsEd
The top number in Class A may be as high as 204 or even 209, though I still am thinking 199.
c-train
I'm gonna say 197 tops for 1A.
