I can promise that they want seperate Hallsville and Pine Tree. Only about 8 miles apart. Extremely big rivals. At least logic would assume that they wouldn"t . But you all know what happens when you ASSUME!
Especially when it has to do with the UIL.

Well, they need to do another revision. District 31-4A is listed with 10 teams. Not included in those 10 teams is Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway. Tuloso-Midway has over 1000 students, they will definitely be a 4A school. OOPS!

Has that site done a 2A projection yet?

Also why would they send PT north with T High etc. and not send Hallsvile and/or Marshall.
Dont think this is very accurate.

Athens should be afraid-very, very afraid- if this realignment
happens.

In the 02-03 realignment, Kilgore and Henderson, rivals and about 15 miles apart, were in separate districts, so never say never.

Rivalry never enters the picture. Last realignment separated Brownwood and Stephenville.
I could see Marshall & Hallsville moving North and creating two 7 team districts. I agree that Greenville goes Metro.

When you look at ET 4-A Texas High is the odd man in either district. TH, two Paris team, SS, Greenville and MP.
They could add Palestine to 17-4a and make a 9 team district. or use I-20 as dividing line
Pal, Nac, WH, Jax, Kilgore and Henderson.
MP, PT, Hallsville, Marshall and TH again.
SS, Paris, Paris NL, Greenville go west and play in the district with Rockwall Heath.

Palestine won't be in 4A unless the cut-off number doesn't change. I believe Palestine's ADM is 908. Bottom number in 4A last time was 900. Of course, it may not change and your scenario is possible.
You didn't factor in Lindale, which is going up to 4A, and Athens could even be in the mix.
GoCatsGo

Lindale will be like TH, no short drives in any direction. Athnes is on the bubble going either south or west. Most likely west.
The problem the UIL faces with driving logistics is not varsity but 7th, 8th, 9th and JV games on Thursday night.

Don't see anywhere south for Athens to go. It's not far-fetched one of the western most schools in the east district could be pulled west with Athens (to replace Mabank). It's happened before.

One thing about realignment in East Texas. Gives us something to ponder and think about till the big day happens. LOL
As a journalist which direction would you rather Athens go.

Jan 31 2006, 10:22 AM
I've often visioned Athens being in more of a north-south district — i.e. Athens, Forney, Terrell .... etc. Not going to happen, but thought it would make sense.
Just don't see Athens going to the east, for there doesn't seem to be room. So that means, most likely, back to the west with Corsicana and Ennis and the others.
Still a glimmer of hope the bottom number in 4A will jump 50 and drop Athens into 3A. That could possible mean a Hwy. 175 district with Eustace, Mabank, Kemp, Kaufman and Crandall.

Both Breithaupt and Cousins have publicly stated there will be a lot of surprises Thursday morning. This leads me to believe there is some significant changing in numbers or at least I'm hoping. All I know is I'm not sleeping well this week with re-alignment and baseball starting.

I've seen some enrollment numbers posted for Paris & North Lamar that could very possibly have them moving to 3A........could make things even more complicated!

Sounds great to me, our numbers are below both of those schools.

You are very right. However I think we will be aligned with MP in any senario.

If these hold up, it's going to be weird for PT to not have Kilgore OR hallsvile in their district. PT/Kilgore and PT/hallsville have been pretty good rivalries as long as I've been around (granted, I'm a soph in college, so that's not very long), this would make for a tough non-district schedule to keep both teams on the schedule.

I don't think we missed badly at all....in fact we hit a lot of 4A dead on...if the UIL hadn't broken their own rules with FWISD we may have even been more accurate...we figured Pine Tree made a better fit with the I-30 district because it is kinda half way between all schools.....Marshall and Hallsville are close to Texarkana but a LONG way from Paris and Sulphur Springs....Lindale is closer to Sulphur but they have a long haul to Texarkana and Mt Pleasant...we figured Pine Tree was close enough to all teams where it wouldn't be too bad....hey we were wrong there but we hit a lot of stuff pretty close....
