Apparently White Oak didn't turn in 399, which hurt Carthage. If White Oak moves down, Carthage slides into District 15 instead of District 20. Hope the buses are ready for the long hauls come next season.

despite the long hauls, it does look like a good competitive region. should be lots of great games next year. im honestly gonna miss that 3A excitement.

UIL must not have got the word that gas is running between 2.30 and 3.00 per gallon given the time of year. thats a big strain on 3A schools and down.
when you think of all the busses and extra vehicals it takes to get a team and band to a game. thats a LOT of fuel and MONEY!

give me a break, rumor was that Weatherford was going into a district with San Angelo, that is 200 miles. And we still do not have it as bad as Van Horn and those guys.

well, it's still a lot of money regardless of what school you are.
the big 5A's can afford to fly thier kids around in private jets from game to game. the smaller schools are struggleing to make ends meet as it is, a one or two hundred mile drive for a ball game is a strain on any district.
shoot, traveling is the best part about playing.. playing at home and close-by is comfortable, but i loved jumping on a bus and driving 75-100 miles for a game, district or non-district..

Jumping on a bus and traveling 200 miles round trip will begin to wear you down. The students won't be as focused on their school work, because they are gonna be exhausted. We have three teams in district 24-1A that we will travel 200 miles round trip. That's hard on the students and it wears on the coaches too.
thats the last thing most students are worried about is school work.. trust me.. but regardless of the trip and how much its going to "wear them down", most of them will get over it and make it through.. its not all that bad..

Observation.....we all complain about long road trips but I'll bet if you asked how many of us would complain about the long bus ride to Austin or San Marcos, you wouldnt hear many objections.

and thats all a part of perseverance to the big show, wearing yourself out to acheive something more.. tests can be made up, but that ride to austin only comes once for a few..
